About This Pipe
Wotjek Pastuch is a renowned Polish pipe maker with an expansive and impressive portfolio. A pupil of Tom Eltang, much of Pastuch's style exhibits Danish influence, though he experiments with a wide variety of silhouettes ranging from shape-chart classics to eccentric, modern forms. This Belge hews closer to the former, as the Belge is one of the oldest silhouettes in pipe making, dating back to days of old when people smoked clay pipes instead of briar. Pastuch's rendition features all the hallmarks of the classic shape: a tall, trim bowl; a lithe shank-and-stem arrangement; and a forward-leaning posture that imbues the piece with an energetic sense of momentum. The stummel wears a craggy, earthy sandblast that lends the piece lots of rugged appeal, and a celluloid accent band at the junction adds a pop of brightness and color to the otherwise dark, smoky color palette. With its traditional shaping, rugged sandblast, and unique accent, this offering is perfect for the smoker seeking a slightly more modern take on a shape-chart classic.
