Cornell & Diehl - Constellation
Burley English
I bought an ounce of this at Strauss Tobacconist in Florence, Ky. Great aroma out of the jar. Typical English smokiness with nice earthy and spicy qualities. I just packed and smoked my first bowl and the first thing I said to myself after the initial light was, “woah, does this have burley in it?” I went and checked, and sure enough, it did! I haven’t tried another English with burley in it before but it totally made this blend for me. The burley brings such a nice body and taste to the smoke and is such a nice addition to an English. It is by no means overwhelming but is definitely present. If you like good English’s and don’t mind some burley it’s a great smoke!

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning
Solid mellow VaPer
I first bought 2oz of this right when I started smoking a little over a year ago. At first I didn’t care for it, but I mostly attribute that to my lack of taste, skill, and experience. I put it into a jar and left it for about a year. I just smoked 2 bowls of it back to back this morning and discovered it’s actually pretty dang good. It is by no means the best VaPer around, but considering how cheap the bulk option is, I think it’s very solid. Nice mellow hay-like Virginias with the perique adding a touch of pepper especially on the retro hale. The nicotine and overall flavor is fairly mild, which I think would make it a good introduction to the VaPer category. One downside, it doesn’t stay lit very well in my experience. Glad I revisited it! Nothing exceptional but certainly good!

Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
Absolutely stellar
My first VaPer so I can’t compare it to others of the same category but wow was it good! The tin note is incredible, grassy and sweet tangy fruit! The smoke was so cool and absolutely no bite. I rubbed out 1.5 coins into my Peterson 160 ( a fairly small bowl) and the smoke lasted me just over an hour! I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about trying it to just pull the trigger. I had been eyeing it for a while but I finally got it as gift and was mad I hadn’t tried it sooner. Superb tobacco!

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Black Irish X
Great dark tobacco
I first picked some up at a B&M store in my town, and while it was a little dried out, it still tasted fantastic! It totally wowed me with how rich it was. Very umami/ meat smoker taste and aroma. About half way through the bowl I started tasting a really nice black licorice kind of sweetness which is only really present after the big smoky flavors subside. This was one of those tobaccos that made me giddy smoking it because of how good it was! If you’re a fan of Islay Scotches this would probably be right up your alley!

Sutliff - 212 - Burley Delight
Great mellow tobacco
This blend is so nice and easy to smoke, no bite, stays lit, and smokes pretty cool. The taste is nutty and dark with the Virginia’s bringing just a little bit of bright tang on a big puffs or retrohales. The room note is nice and toasty like a good burning dark leaf. By the end of the bowl there’s a bit of black licorice kind of sweetness left in my mouth which is nice. Overall a very rounded out and mellow smoke. Truly an all day smoke. I would say it’s a great tobacco for beginners who want to break away from aromatics and taste straight tobacco without all the extra strength of more sophisticated blends. The nicotine is certainly present but still mild compared to stronger blends. A true shame it won’t be made anymore.
