I picked 150 Mark Twain on a whim. I restarted pipe smoking after a fifty year hiatus so I classify as a beginner. Two things have made this tobacco a favourite, the wonderfully mild flavour and the fact that my pipe stayed lit from the beginning. Nice and light

I like straight or light aromatic blends. This one is just a little more aromatic than I normally smoke but it is smooth, mild, and pleasant to the palate without the tongue bite that some aromatics have. Usually, with an aromatic, I have to mix in a little bit of straight tobacco to keep the aroma from being too overpowering. Not this blend. I can smoke it straight and enjoy it as is. I generally favor English or Balkan blends, but there are times I need a break. Mark Twain offers me a respite from Turkish and Latakia. The category shown by Smoking Pipes for this blend is Aromatic but it seems light, if not void of toppings. I would classify it as a Danish Cavendish. There is a sweetness that I find pleasant, not overboard or sticky. The Virginia and Burley combination gives a nice balance but the star of this mix is the Black Cavendish. The smoke is easy, smooth and tantalizing. This blend has been in my rotation for years and I see no reason it won't continue....Read More
