Quality Latakia. One of the best

Product: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake 2oz
No nonsense Latakia that is very well behaved. Very smooth even when pushed hard with long draws, burns clean and gives me pleasure every time.
Both taste and smell are great for a perfect balanced 3D mix and feels the same from first to last sip.
Highly recommended for both beginners and s
easoned pipers....Read More
The Flavor I Didn't Expect to Miss...

Product: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake 2oz
My experience with Pirate Kake was that it changed noticeably after opening. Fresh from the tin, it had a strong marine character with notes of wet wood, an old ship's hold, and a strange dockside funk. That initial character was unusual, but it quickly became one of the most interesting parts of the blend while it lasted. After about three days, that note faded completely, leaving behind a smooth smoke dominated by campfire, leather, dark chocolate, and deep smoky sweetness. This became the main character of the blend. Interestingly, I ended up missing that early tin note and found myself chasing those first few days with each new tin....Read More
Right in my wheelhouse

Product: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake 8oz
I've been a cigar smoker for years and started smoking a pipe about a year ago.I just got pirate kake and I absolutely love it. The Latakia forward has an excellent smokey campfire flavor but there is enough oriental to give a nice spice. The retrohale is surprisingly wonderful and not overwhelming. This blend is right in my wheelhouse and will definitely be a staple of my tobaco rotation. I strongly recommend this blend to cigar smokers and people that enjoy the bolder blends....Read More
Loads of flavor here...

Product: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake 2oz
Yes, loads of flavor. I have four ounces of this, not yet smoked, from 2024 and I just recently received another 16 ounces (dated; Mar. '26). It's not like me to add more of a blend prior to trying some of what I already have. And I don't know why I did this time. Anyhow, of this "just received" 16 ounces, I kept a small slice of "Kake" out to try and I'm glad I did. This has a bunch of pleasant and enjoyable flavor. Probably has more flavor than any of the "near 100" other blends I've ever tried. And even though it is 75% Latakia (which is generally low in nicotine) the nicotine is low; mild-to-moderate I'd say. Perfect for a first bowl of the day, with my morning cup of black coffee. Or the last bowl of the day, in the evening; when I usually have a bowl of Dark-Flake; G.H.&Co.-Dark Flake, Rattray's-Stirling Flake, Peterson-Irish Flake...and the like. I want to give it 4.7★ to 4.8★...but I give it 5.0★ today. Because, "one," I can't find any fault with it. And, "two," if I were to *Update* my rating in the future, I expect it could only go up from here....Read More
Suprising

Product: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake 2oz
I love latakia, but even for me, 75% was intimidating, implying a "one note" latakia bomb experience.

Boy was I wrong. Yes, the latakia is prominant, but only in the first 1/3rd of the bowl. In the second 1/3rd, I was suprised at home much orientals were evident in the flavor, especially on
the retrohale. The final 1/3rd, the flavors all meld together and you get an excellent, full flavored english experience that rivals the best out there on the market.

Best way I can describe it is, first 3rd is a very creamy, smooth, latakia, second 3rd still creamy and smooth, but also spicy and floral, final 3rd, everything is melded together beautifully.

If you give this blend a try, and don't want to only taste latakia, I highly recommend a wide, deep(er) bowl. If you smoke this in a narrow bowl, you will only taste latakia, in a wide bowl, everything sings beautifully.
