This would be a good blend for aromatic smokers to try an occasional English blend especially if you like a little more burley.
The begining of the bowl almost seems too mild but the flavors build toward the middle and finish strongly.

Out of the handful of blends I’ve tried containing Latakia, I have to give Black Duck top tier standings. It’s not over the top like Da Vinci which I find too strong but has enough to keep you satisfied. The picture of the smoking black duck really caught my attention. It seems that Daffy Duck has not appeared for a long time, apparently he is actively into pipe smoking..hehehe!!
An English mixture with a solid presentation of dark, smoky,musty, leathery, with a perfect note of spice and sweetness. The character of each component plays cheerfully smooth and nuanced throughout the bowl.The added burley and cavendish really giving the right amount of kick.One of the Cornell & Diehl blends that presents a very satisfying smoking experience. In addition to swimming, diving and flying, it turns out that the Black Duck is very good at pipe smoking and choosing his favorite tobacco!

Another C&D 'Black' Blend Scores BIG!

I typically prefer English and Balkan blends over most everything else. So... with all the fanfare over the C&D 'Black..' blends I had to try this. (The first one I tried was Black Frigate. Which I REALLY LIKE. Just finished now my tine of BLACK DUCK. Not that I don't like BLACK FRIGATE.... but BLACK DUCK is now the lead. Clouds of good smoke. Burns well, no tongue bite. I'm not real sensitive to flavors but I swear I detect a hint of licorice (yeah, 'black licorice' lol). Unless you hate Balkan blends, black Cavendish, Latakia. et al.... get a tin and smoke in a variety of pipes. Hint: meerschaum wins! LOL...Read More

But damn I do! Got this on a whim because the smoking duck picture intrigued me and the reviews encouraged me. And dang, it's a fun smoke for me. It's been a while since I smoke the last bit (and my newest tin just arrived) but I remember a slight almost saltiness to it and a definitely satisfying experience. This, along with Habana Dream, is in my current top 5.
