Must try for the Burley fan.

Not going to lie I was drawn toward this blend because of the Bing Crosby affiliation first and at the time of purchase I was more of an English smoker with a less refined palate. I’ve finally gotten around to smoking this a year or so after purchase ( I’m now also more of a burley fan). If you like good burley you owe it to yourself to try this don’t let the deer tongue scare you off unless you’re certain you don’t like deer tongue. The cut is more of a granulated cube very easy for a gravity fill, burns well and slowly. The burley is the star with the deer tongue being ever present. It’s got vanilla/mintiness but meshes well with the nutty/chocolate burley, on the retro hale its remind me of Neapolitan type flavor. It’s pretty consistent in flavor throughout the bowl, but if pushed fast does give a bit of cigarette ash flavor especially toward the end of the bowl. Good nicotine I’d say around medium noticeable but not overwhelming. Will be in my regular rotation....Read More

Grandpa and his pipe were here. Reminds me of The Eagles and Elks Lodges and Christmas Santas, of the VFWs and the Masonic Lodges. It's smells like the past and it tastes the same.

Bulk VS Tin

Product: Cornell & Diehl Crooner Bulk

Not sure what’s going on, but the bulk experience is much different than the 2oz tin. I purchased a tin and really liked it (a 5 star for me) so I bought 8oz of bulk. Not the same at all for me. The bulk is a dry and acrid(burns my mouth, not tongue bite) smoke and had less of a floral/DT tin note and flavor(almost none). Visibly there’s less DT in the mix to my eye. I’ll be tossing the bulk and sticking to the 2oz tins....Read More

This has to be one of the most unique flavors I've ever smoked. I'm more of a VaP/Kentucky kind of smoker and my tongue could never handle aromatic blends and all though this blend is not categorized as a aromatic? This to me is what a aromatic should be. It tastes like it smells like a fig/cookie with sweet grass with NO BITE. I have no idea how someone can give this blend a bad review? This was a GREAT surprise and is without a doubt in my daily pipe rotation now....Read More

Crooner, for burley lovers

Product: Cornell & Diehl Crooner 2oz

Moisture - perfect. Strength - strong - not a mild burley, strong nic. Cut - perfect for gravity filling your pipe, small pieces .1-.25 inch sq. Burn - lights easily and burns well without needing relights. Flavour- tastes of burley with nice deer tongue hits occasionally. Flavours meld toward the last 1/3 of bowl. Overall- not sweet, not complex, just a good smoke. Updated from 4 to 4.5 star Smoked in a pot (Peterson 01) this tobacco really sings, I was a whole different smoke in the wide shallow bowl. Next I’ll try some in my 605 Peterson for an even wider bowl...Read More
