Cornell & Diehl's Small Batch: Sansepolcro is a unique, one-of-a-kind Virginia blend showcasing the finest leaf from both sides of the Atlantic. Grounding the mixture is a selection of exotic KY171 Italian Dark-Fired Kentucky — grown, cured, and double-fermented on a small farm in the Sansepolcro region of Italy, which boasts a history and tradition of tobacco cultivation dating to the 17th century. Elevating this historic leaf are superlative grades of Red and Bright Virginias, and the perfect amount of unsweetened Dominican Black Cavendish, and the entire blend is pressed for seven days to marry the flavors before being sliced into delicate flakes. The result is a complex, alluring smoke with notes of mellow citrus and undertones of soft, earthy, clove-like spice.

I snagged a lot of small batch in 2024, and basically cracked open every tin immediately to dive in, and this one definitely stood out for me. Medium bodied with a nice nicotine slap from the dark fired if you're into that. Room note, I'm told, was very favorable to the nonsmokers who were in my sphere of influence at the time as well. I liked it so much I immediately went back to my B&M to snag a few more tins to put away for a rainy day. I'll definitely jump on this if they ever release another version of it....Read More

Another small batch, another winner

I got to say, hats off to c/d. I really enjoy the small batches they put out and have yet to have one that wasn't interesting and blended beautfully.. this one is no different.
I decided to get it after seeing it listed clovelike spice in the description, ive seen clove being listed on a few other blends but always felt disappointed by the blending and always found them to be lacking in some way. Not so for this one, from the blending, to the quality of the leaf, packaging, not to mention the price, it's a real winner. The tin note is fairly subtle which is a change from the usual punch to the face most blends give you when opening a new tin, hints of tobacco and spice, but have no fear the flavor is all there. What i like about it is it really embraces the bitterness of the warming spice flavors with just enough underlying sweetness to make it pleasant. A real hard line to walk but for my palette it does it well.
Clove is probably the most appropriate description but had I not read that I probably would have described it as somewhere inbetween All Spice and nutmeg, but clove fits just as well. Whatever you call it I thoroughly enjoyed it. Suggest you grab 1 or 3 while they last!...Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Sansepolcro 2oz

I bought the 2024 release of this which is essentially the same blend as the 2025. It instantly just hit the spot and continues to be my go to blend after many months of smoking the 2024 to now. Didn't notice much if any difference in the new release. Virginias are forward with this blend that offer a nice sweet bread note. The Italian dark fire is pretty subtle but grows in intensity the further you get down the bowl. Cavendish tends to bite me but this does not. Maybe because its unsweetened? Overall its a great smoke and really hope they release this every year cause I will be an annual buyer. I do rub it out and let dry for about 5-10 min. Pairs great with a coffee with a little bit of cream or your favorite bourbon....Read More

This tobacco is wonderful! My only regret is that I only bought one tin. I should've bought 10.

The Italian dark fired is excellent. I love a broken flake. Tin and room note are what you would expect. This is a complex and premium tobacco, as expected from C&D.

Not good for a summer smoke albeit, but I'll finish the rest of my tin as it cools down. Also, I love the tin art....Read More
