This is a well executed English blend!

Product: Drucquer & Sons Red Lion 100g
I love the fact that the Latakia is lightly used and the taste is very cohesive. The tobaccos used are of excellent quality. This blend is Virginia forward with the Perique in second position. The Black Cavendish is used to smooth out the blend and t... Read More
he Burley is not noticeable. So basically,
I would call this a light Vaper that is smoothed out by the other components. It is cool smoking and very delicious. It burns to ash and produces an average amount of smoke. This is my second favorite of the line, next to Blairgowie. I find both
Red Lion and Blairgowie to be exceptional and have been smoking them exclusively for the past couple of weeks. Read Less
Quite The Surprise

Product: Drucquer & Sons Red Lion 100g
I like to refer to this blend as "athletic" because it achieves a somewhat Oriental taste component without actually having that component. This is a Virginia-forward, creamy blend that burns perhaps a bit fast. The Latakia keeps the sweetness in che... Read More
ck and the burn in check as well. What I get is a sweet and smokey, and floral, and even somewhat herbal experience from this blend. It is fascinating to see how the Virginia and Latakia play off one another. Read Less

Another hit out of the park on this blend. Smooth with a hint of Smokey sweetness. The Balance of tobacco’s is spot on and makes for a delectable smoke. Drucquer and Son’s come back under GL Pease and C&D is fantastic.
Eh... decent English

A great blend if you prefer mild english's - I just think it is TOO mild for my tastes. A small complaint is how dry it was straight out of the tin. The quality is there though
Even-Bodied & Slightly Sweet

Product: Drucquer & Sons Red Lion 100g
This is a relatively smooth, even-bodied, slightly sweet and tasty English with a restrained measure of Latakia. The Latakia is enough to notice in the taste and the aroma, but not enough to intrude. The Virginias are in the lead with pretty much e... Read More
verything else in support. I believe that the Black Cavendish is the source of the little bit of extra sweetness and I'm relatively certain that it acts as a binder for the other components in the blend. Aside from the Virginias I don't find that any other tobacco really stands out. It's a pleasant blend that leans a little toward the mellow side of medium in all respects. It's worthy of your attention. Read Less

Product: Drucquer & Sons Red Lion 100g
Tin note of tart plums, sugared Rasins and mildly smoky. Tobacco is a Ribbon cut of orangish tan, brown, dark brown with a little black mixed in. Moisture content is great. Burns moderately with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to... Read More
medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of tangy sweet fruit, wood, spice, bread, rich earth, floral, savory, leather, dry hay, plums, brown sugar, orange peel/zest, mild vinegary fermented sour, a Rasin and sweet grass background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Cavendish and Perique supporting. Latakia and Burley are supporting from the stands. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great. Read Less

The title should be Red Lion Tamer as this blend does just that, tames the Virginia.
Loads of flavor without the burn and tingle.
I love the sweet virginia profile in all blends but so many leave a tingle too strong to overlook.

ciana history at its very finest!!
I was delighted to find that the Latakia didn't dominate the blend or obscure the complexity of the other components - everything is perfectly in balance and all of their beauty is allowed to shine through. Simply sublime. Read Less

I've tried four of these Drucquer & Sons. Red Lion is awesome, as are the others. If you like to have robust snorkeling without any spicy nose burn, then this one is pretty tame. I like to robustly snorkel tobacco, but some are too spicy, so I have t... Read More

This is a wonderful blend, beautifully balanced yet nuanced. I started cycling through the Drucquer & Sons blends with Blairgowrie, which now having had more experience with the line, I'm going to re-visit. Second try was with Inns of Court, wh... Read More
ich I found to be an excellent all day smoke. First pipe of the the day is now Inns of Court followed by Red Lion, with it's wonderful aroma and smooth flavor profile. I just jarred a tin of Trafalgar, and am looking forward to where that takes me. Each of the blends thus far has done exactly what Mr. Pease referred to in an article I found elsewhere - once the tin is cracked, allowing the air and microbes to do their work, subtle changes continue to occur right up to the last pipeful. The mixtures tried have all smoked better for me after a little airing - I'll put an ample amount out to dry, and once the pipe is loaded, the rest goes back in the jar to "get happy" with the remaining mixture. So far, this line is outstanding! Read Less
