C&D's Gentleman Caller is a blend of Virginias and Burleys, with a dash of Deertongue for a vanilla-like sweetness and a smidge of Perique for spice. C&D does a great job of preserving and reintroducing traditional ingredients and methods of production. Deertongue was commonly used in old codger blends, and it's a piece of U.S. tobacco history. I'm glad this blend exists just to get a taste of that traditional combination. How does it smoke? It's quite good. Well blended and balanced. The deertongue gives it a unique herbal note, but not overwhelming. It's a mild VaBurPer with a little twist. Good natural sweetness. Any vanilla notes are subtle. I was nervous to try this blend because of the deer tongue in it. I wasn't sure what to expect. Man, this stuff is great. The Virginia and Burley mix great with the deer tongue. It adds a touch of vanilla to the tobacco. Its very enjoyable and has a great room note. Smoke it nice and slow for the best results. This is my first time having baccy with Deer Tongue and I RMO cigarettes. Yuck, never again! To me it doesn't have a "vanilla type" taste at all, more like perfume/incense. Not good at all! I would take Latakia or Perique over Deer Tongue any day and I'm not really big on those much. People that like this nasty baccy can have it!...Read More
