Mild and mellow,

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Mostly Flue cured Virginia leaf. The burley and dark fired are quite minimal, even to the point that they are barely noticeable.
All ingredients make for a mild delight with just the right flavor.
Simply scrumptious.
Wonderful, but a little sweet.

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Sweeter than Old Gowrie, but not as full bodied, of course. Soft on the palate (but I smoke with 9mm filters).
This blend, Old Gowrie and Hal O' the Wynd are my virginia blends. All year. I've left everything else behind and stopped looking for alternatives years ago.
very nice!

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Tin note of dried Rasins, spices, and ripe plums. Tobacco is dark brown, brown and tan Broken Flake. Moisture content is ok, some may need to dry it a bit. Large pieces may also need to be rubbed out. Burns slow with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and mostly consistent, with notes of toasted bread, Rasin, wood, spice, nuts, leather, dry hay, rich earth, floral, mildly acidic, mildly spicy, citrus, creamy, herbal, orange peel/zest, tangy savory, a fermented slightly sour vegetation background note, and a very peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Kentucky and Perique supporting. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is great....Read More
Tangy, lemon

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Since dark star is not obtainable, this is lightly stoved with a somewhat similar tangy ness. To me it’s lemon like and I use it with tea.

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Not as excited about this as Old Gowrie, but it's still a solid smoke. I've been buying a tin or two Everytime it's available. Satisfies Everytime I smoke it.
Strong, Satisfying Blend

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
Delicious Virginia and Burley mixture with the Perique showing off its fermented quality without being peppery. This is noticeable first in the tin note (which has hints of beer) and then though the tart tanginess it adds to the earthy burley and sweet Virginias that taste a bit like dates. Strong in both flavor and nicotine while still a super smooth smoke, it's great with a cup of black coffee to get going in the morning....Read More

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
This is what I was smoking for a week while trying to find my "all-day" blend. Well guess what?! Found it. Right in front of me the whole time. Not complex, not too strong..just right.

A well balanced blend that changes from sweet to spicy as you search for that fine grey ash at the bottom.

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
This is a smooth, somewhat less than sharp Va. with a dark sweetness. There is little if any citrus flavor although it does have a low-level tartness that keeps the salivary glands perked-up throughout the smoke. It plays well against the hops-like grassiness of the sweet Va. As the bowl progresses a brut prune flavor grows in prominence. Eventually the flavor takes on a woody character – sort of an interesting development since the initial flavors seem to hold their own while the slow-to-develop prune and woody flavors add their voices to the chorus....Read More
Good Virginia

Product: Rattray's Brown Clunee 100g
My Brown Clunee has been sitting in it's unsealed tin since I purchased/opened it at least ten years ago.Dry,but not too dry to smoke.Good solid virginia flavor,a little tart on the end of the tounge at first light, but nothing I would call "bite".I like it.Can't really detect any perique since my pallet has been squashed from smoking 30%+ perique blends.I will bounce back and forth between this and the stronger va/perique blends.Produces a whitish/gray ash.I am smoking this in a large, thick (5/8")walled dublin.Worth a try,my smokers. You judge for yourselves....Read More
