One of the old Atlas Blending mixtures C&D acquired rights to, Stanhope is an all natural blend of Latakia, Perique, and Burley over a Virginia ribbon base, resulting in a mellower sort of English.
This is one of the most handsome looking blends I've seen, with thick matchstick-size chunks of contrasting black and gold that are even more vivid than the photograph shows. There is also an unpleasant soapiness that comes through every time you re-light. After trying in three pipes (Meer, Peterson, Comoy) I'm hoping to salvage with some more Lat or stronger Burley because I really love the look and feel of this blend. Read Less
