Pease's Chelsea Morning is comprised of sweet red and bright Virginias, fragrant orientals, a bit of rich Cyprus Latakia, and just a pinch of Perique. The leaf is blended in layers, briefly pressed, then sliced and tumbled into ribbons. Lively and engaging, with a subtle fruitiness, and an elegant, creamy texture, it's a great bowl to accompany the morning cup.

Favorite morning blend

It is rather delightful English morning blend.
Interplay between Virginias and Orientals take the central stage. I taste mostly red Virginia providing its usual dark fruit overtones. I would like it to be a bit sweeter though. Orientals are fragrant and incense like also providing taste of earthiness, tanginess, and a bit of sourness. Latakia smokiness is present throughout but always on the backstage. Perique is a secondary player, noticeable mostly in the first third of the bowl adding a light bit of spice.
Blend is not pipe dependent. Tasted pretty much the same in briar or meerschaum regardless of pipe shape.
I believe it to be a superbly balanced mixture.

This is a upgraded EMP. Its close to the same taste but the tobacco seems to be a higher quality. I quit buying EMP and smoke this blend. Well worth it.

I have been smoking Early Morning Pipe for more years than I can remember and find this smoke to be more than I expected and will make this one of my morning first pipes. First, I give this 4 stars because it is a really good blend. However, I hold back a star because it's not at all what I expected. To me, it tastes like a Va/Per with a little Latakia added, not quite an English to my taste, for some reason. That said, it tastes like a good Va/Per. Once I got that in my head, I enjoyed it. Also, the bright Virginia's are very forward to me, much less red Virgina; I tend to prefer red Virginia. I guess I refer the darker, after dinner style Englishes over lighter morning blends. CLOUDS of rich creamy sweet and nutty , incense-ey goodness! As expected, the Latakia adds its typical smoky, woodsy flavors. Adjacent to the Latakia is a dry, cherry like flavor, but without much sweetness. Almost like a cherry bark kind of flavor, if you can imagine that. The virginias add a rich, sweet creaminess almost like a buttery vanilla flavor in contrast to the spicier, smokier flavor. The perique adds the nice peppery flavor that supports it all. I also think that there is some sort of liquor in this tobacco. Fairly new pipe smoker this is a great English for the morning. I smoked this at night but i must say this is one of my favorite tobacco’s. Once im done with the small tin ill definitely be ordering a 8oz and cellaring this bad boy.
