About This Pipe Tobacco

Founded in Kendal, Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. has fashioned quality pipe tobacco since 1887, utilizing processes and techniques that date to 1792. The Cumbria-based company prioritizes natural tobacco flavor, and in many of their mixtures, Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. maintains the standards enforced by the United Kingdom's strict purity laws of the 19th and 20th centuries — such laws dictating how much and what type of flavorings could be added to pipe tobacco and ensuring that sub-quality leaf wasn't hidden under the veil of exorbitant toppings.

American Delite is a distinct mixture within Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s portfolio, having been blended to emulate old-school pipe tobaccos from the United States, which weren't restricted by the United Kingdom's tobacco purity laws. As such, American Delite is a rich and flavorful Aromatic blend of the finest Virginia, Burley, and Black Cavendish tobaccos — all finished with notes of vanilla, caramel, and fresh fruits.

MAGA For Sure! (Make America Gawith Again)

Product: Gawith Hoggarth & Co. American Delite 50g
Wow—this tobacco tastes like freedom served in a bowl, topped with vanilla, and sprinkled with bald eagle feathers (not literally, please don't call animal control). It absolutely TRUMPS every other aromatic out there. I usually puff my way through plenty of Sutliff bulk aromatics, and 1'st time with this brand. This one is like Sutliff's fancy, tuxedo-wearing cousin—smoother, cooler, and burns easier than a politician's campaign promises. Not overly sweet, but slow your roll and voilà!—vanilla deliciousness sneaks up on your taste buds like Uncle Sam at a bake sale. And hey, you don't have to be conservative to enjoy this blend... but c'mon, it wouldn't hurt. Highly recommend! A+...Read More

Nothing special. Not much taste and moderate smooth smoke more smoke than taste. Room note below average.

My Dream Aro

Product: Gawith Hoggarth & Co. American Delite Bulk
Well, I've been looking for a perfect aro for years that fit my taste. I want creamy, nutty, and sweet, BUT with actual body, and... Cue drum roll... WITHOUT bitterness or weird astringent flavors when pushed! Cue final fantasy victory music: GH American Delight. This is what I've been looking for. I taste primarily the flavor of natural mellow nutty and earthy burley, followed not far behind by grassy, slightly haylike Virginia, and all of this sublimated by a prominent caramel essence which comes off more like a creamy coffee and then followed by whisps of vanilla more akin to homemade whipped cream, and then midbowl onward the occasional very soft notes of fruit. Absolutely sublime. When you push it hard, instead of getting some foul food grade toppings burning bitter or sour, you only get more natural burley. This is the flavor that I always fantasized American burley codger blends to taste like, and well this one actually delivered. Quality GH leaves with quality non alcohol tasting, non chemical, non-mouth-coating EU-friendly natural essences expertly applied as top notes. YES....Read More

Very bland. No taste or aroma whatsoever. Best thing about this tobacco is the tin it came in.

This is one of those tobaccos that seems to be a love it or hate it type blend. Some say they get a soapy aftertaste. To me, it's similar to 1Q but more nuanced and with more thought provoking qualities. I opened a tin that was two years old and it was quite moist. I emptied the tin and let it air out overnight. I smoked the tin within two weeks in a Chacom Champs Elysees pipe. I thoroughly loved this tobacco and immediately ordered more to cellar. The smoke was light and cool. It was lightly sweet, a little bready with a hint of tart. There's a nice toasted waffle with a carmel aftertaste and a faint floral hint in the retrohale. It packs well and burns clean. If you like 1Q then I think you will love this tobacco. I rate it 4.8 of 5....Read More
