I would say virginias dominate most of the time with only short apparitions from the burley, grassy notes here and there but not as robust as to define the smoke, probably because of the cavendish which must tranquilize the whole plot. As mentioned before there is also a natural "aromatic" like quality in taste while the room notes prevails with natural and sweet tobacco.
Relaxing smoke and suitable for the summer time,very refreshing and easy going. Read Less

avy aromatics I normally smoke, I've starting smoking it again. I found it a nice smooth smoke although I do not smoke Virginias much. The Virginia dominates the taste and is only slightly offset by the Burly and Cavendish. Overall, it is not bad and I may wind up getting some for times when I want a change in taste. Read Less

sy taste typical with much of the variety. I favor Burleys and smokey Kentucky. When I do reach for a Virginia it's usually Capstan Blue or Wessex Brown Slice and not too often lately. A very nice loose cut ribbon of medium browns and black. The immediate pouch aroma was that of sweet wine and spices. On deeper inhaling a very lovely aroma of what seemed to be apricots and another fruity essence was apparent. Loading and lightly were a breeze. This stayed lit for the entire bowl , smoked clean and dry, never got hot, nor was there any bite. An expertly produced blend that made me want for more. This is not your typical aromatic as I detected very little of what I smelled from the pouch other than a sweet presence throughout the smoke. This will definitely become a regular for me and as I fancy flakes, will pick up the flake version of this. Another winner from MacBaren. Highly recommended for both Virginia lovers and aromatic fans. Read Less

s great; lights easily but, don't pack too tightly. Mostly the sweet Virginas initially and then about a third of the way in I picked up the faint, but certain flavor of dried apricot. Paired nicely with a glass of Larceny bourbon. Probably a great all-day smoke that won't offend you're tongue or those around. Put into my cellar to enjoy with a little more age. Read Less

I received this in a sample and enjoyed it so much that it is now part of my permanent rotation. The smell in the tin is light and fruity (to me it smells like dried apricots), the room note is inoffensive and there's no bite to it.

Mac Baren tobaccos, but also one of my all time favorite tobaccos of any brand. I think it has a very smooth no-nonsense flavor that isn't overwhelming with any one particular characteristic. A nice cut that is blended very well. A good all around, any time smoke. Read Less

I'm a big fan of Mac Baren offerings and Modern Virginia is right up there. I get a mild, sweet virginia tobacco taste that builds gently down the bowl. I don't get the ripe fruit but still find this blend quite good.

eption. Not being an aromatic fan in general, I was a little hesitant to try a blend described as having a top flavor of ripe fruit. I want my tobacco to taste like "tobacco", not Blueberry Pancakes. But this is a predominately Virginia with a very subtle extra sweetness that is not cloying, and very enjoyable. The aromatic component slowly disipates as you work your way down the bowl, but the overall taste profile is just very easy to enjoy. It's hard to say which version I like better, the rubbed out 100g tin or the flake. Maybe the loose cut is a little brighter, but both are great. This is exactly the kind of tobacco that I find myself appreciating more and more. A relatively mild yet flavorful blend that doesn't challenge, but simply pleases. A top choice as an all-day smoke!
