About This Pipe Tobacco

Manufactured in a century-old brick building in picturesque Lauenburg, Germany, Dan pipe tobacco has gained quite a worldwide reputation among smokers, with a wide variety of blends and cuts on offer. Andreas Mund became the successor in charge of production when master blender Jürgen Westphal retired, and is assisted by Heiko Behrens as well as Michael Apitz of Dan Pipe.

"De Hamborger Veermaster" is a traditional German sea shanty from the mid-1800s about a four-masted ship — veermaster — from Hamburg. As a pipe mixture from Dan Tobacco, Hamborger Veermaster is a pure Virginia flake that highlights the tobacco's natural sweetness.

Hamborger Veermaster is a straight Virginia tobacco with a flake style cut. This comes packaged in a 50 gram tin, a 250 gram bag and a one pound bag. This tobacco has a medium strength and taste with a pleasant room note.

Product: Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster 50g

This blend is a top five favorite blends for me. It’s not trying to be anything but a delicious, natural blend. The tin not is sweet fruit, grass, hay, raisins, light malt. The smoke is very sweet, slightly musty and earthy, light bread, fig. This one of those Virginias you can push a little bit and it won’t punish you. I highly recommend this blend...Read More

Product: Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster 50g

Tin smells of sweet grains when opened. Very sweet and light but with a savory finish. The power level is two tics under medium which makes this a nice blend for relaxing or loading up the biggest pipes for long sessions. The savory part keeps the blend interesting and tasty to the bottom of the bowl. Unlike a lot of Virginia blends from other blenders this has some great flavors with no bite. I recommend to some Enthusiasts and all newcomers looking for a classic Virginia flake with good manners and top of the chart flavor without worry it will be too strong. A large bowl gives a long lasting treat without bite or burn!...Read More

it is a good, high-quality, working, but not outstanding tobacco.

DTM proves with each can of tobacco that it is high-quality tobacco. And so the Hamborger Veermaster is not the star of the Virginia family. This is a simple, high quality Virginia tobacco. The Virginia flavor comes through, but not as much as I'd like. It’s certainly interesting to try it, but I didn’t put it on the list of the best tobaccos from DTM. As I wrote above, it is a good, high-quality, working, but not outstanding tobacco....Read More
