Mac Baren: Virginia No. 1 16oz Pipe Tobacco

Pleasant flavors continue uninterrupted from start to finish. Flavored and sweet. It's not complicated. But the taste and aroma you expect from Virginia never betrays a smoker's expectations. Early in the morning, it's a great choice to start the day with Virginia No. 1.

Was a nice easy sweet with slight spice. Absolutely loved this smoke

This is a straight-forward Virginia. Don't light it if you don't have time to sip and enjoy. You try to rush this smoke and the tongue bite will get you quick. Nothing flashy but still a good smoke.

I've had newly tinned versions of this in the past and it checks all the boxes of a typical fresh VA; sweet, citrusy, grassy and a little spice. However, MacBaren introduces other - non tobacco components which alters PH and illicits major tongue bite. I recently cracked a tin from 2013 and it was incredibly candy sweet and virtually no spice and tongue bite. It had become very smooth and took on a bready/sweet flavor. Almost all citrus was gone. Raisins and subtle baked flavor, maybe some sweetness but due to heat it's hard to say, found my stem was plugged for much of the smoke but when I finally was able to blow it out, smoked even hotter with nic hit, overall not bad. I started to smoke pipe almost 25 year ago, 98 I think. And this specific tobacco was my favorite through all this years. Multiple time I tried different bands or different sorts of Mac Baren, but always went back to Virginia No. 1, time and time again. Pretty much my go to virginia if i'm out of Yorktown.

This is most likely my favorite one so far. I love the taste of the hay and bread. Being a Baker at heart and having spent time at my late grandfathers ranch is takes me back to a simpler time. When enjoying this blend think of it as a good sipping whiskey, take your time and enjoy it.
