About This Pipe Tobacco
When Dunhill announced it would no longer be producing tobacco, pipe smokers rued the loss of some of their favorite mixtures. Thanks to Peterson, however, those beloved blends are still available. They're the same recipes and feature the same tin art as Dunhill's, just re-branded for Peterson.
My Mixture 965 is for connoisseurs of full-bodied English blends. Choice Latakia imparts a rich, smoky flavor and coolness, while Orientals are added for sweetness and spice. It's one of Dunhill's most popular English mixtures, now offered here from Peterson.

This one and Peterson's Navy Roll medallions vie for my favorite, back and forth depending on the day.

Virginia in the current Peterson version, and you can tell! The blend is loaded with flavors similar to leather, woodiness, smokiness, and spice. The Latakia is strong and smoky and the Orientals add some nice spice at the back of the throat. No sweetness but the Cavendish adds a tiny bit of creaminess and smooths everything out.
This blend is always enjoyable, always strong, and never lets down. One of those blends that every Pipe smoker must have well represented within his cellar!...Read More

e have the depth, richness and complexity I remember from the Dunhill labeled version.
For those who remember 965 in the 1990s, those Dunhill tins were actually manufactured by Murray, Sons & Co. in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dunhill itself produced 965 until 1981, when production transferred to Murray's; Murray's continued making it through 2004 before production moved to Orlik in Denmark. I enjoyed the current Peterson version. A good blend today....Read More
