About This Pipe
Drawing endless inspiration from a plethora of different pipe-making styles, American artisan Bill Shalosky is able to skillfully render a wide range of silhouettes. His portfolio runs the gamut from shape-chart classics to unique Freehands, with this bent Apple hewing closer to the former end of that spectrum while still retaining a sense of style that is unmistakably "Bill."
Rendered in Nosewarmer proportions, this is a delightfully compact piece from Bill, and one that still manages to showcase exceptional ring grain despite the stummel's diminutive size. Stacks of growth rings radiate along the walls of the bowl, while blasted swirls of birdseye traverse the top and underside of the shank. A deep, rich, auburn stain further enhances the briar's expertly sandblasted grain, and a band of light, smooth olivewood adorns the junction for a lovely dose of contrast. The brindled vulcanite stem adds a fetching pop of color to the composition, featuring swirls of pistachio green, burgundy, and a beige hue that all but matches that of the olivewood accent for a thoroughly cohesive appearance. Indisputably charming and eminently portable, this bent Apple ensures the ability to smoke on the go without compromising on style.
