Davide Iafisco: Smooth Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe

Davide Iafisco has been carving pipes since 2010, continually adding to his now expansive and diverse portfolio. The Italian artisan has also studied with legendary carvers, including Teddy Knudsen and Claudio Cavicchi, in addition to having attended Jeff Gracik and Adam Davidson's pipe-making seminars.
Davide's pieces are often imbued with a plump, charming curvaceousness that's clearly evident with this Nosewarmer straight Apple. The bowl tapers gradually from a broad, flattened base to its softly beveled rim, hinting at Danish design cues, as does cheeking at the transition. It's paired to a round shank that's then topped by a shortened, cumberland saddle stem with an eye-catching accent of horn at its base. A fine Sitter and easily transportable, this piece is dressed in a grain-defining, honey-blonde stain, the entire composition a wonderful testament to the artisan's incredible skill set.
