About This Pipe
Danish artisan Henri Sørensen draws inspiration from the great pipe makers that preceded him. While his style is highly unique, it also reflects an undeniable reverence for tradition. A beautifully organic take on the classic shape, this Acorn is one of the latest offerings from Sørensen.
Past Acorn renditions from Sørensen have typically featured plump bowls with dramatically inflated rims. The bowl on this Acorn is slightly more subdued, and it's paired to a fetching bamboo shank with three bumpy knuckles whose grooved appearance is mimicked by the shoulders of the saddle stem that completes the composition. Save for the smooth rim and shank, the stummel wears a dark, smoky stain over a soft sandblast that draws out the briar's dense ring grain in rich detail. In addition to its lovely shaping and finish, this piece is also quite practical, measuring 5.28 inches long and weighing just under an ounce. With these proportions, this Acorn can be easily tucked away for travel, and is generally well-suited for quick smoking sessions on the go.
