About This Pipe
With over a decade of experience, Chinese artisan Lv Zelong began his journey into pipe making in 2009 after discovering pipe smoking as a hobby. He refined his craftsmanship under the mentorship of respected makers Ping Zhan and Lan Zhenjun, developing a style inspired by classic Danish artisans while expressing his own creative and aesthetic vision. Zelong's pipes are prized for their organic shaping, tasteful accent work, and meticulous finishing and drilling, all reflecting his commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and comfortable, reliable smoking performance.
An impressive Acorn from Zelong, this piece showcases the artisan's knack for organic designs. The bowl stays true to its namesake nut, featuring a domed rim from which the walls taper down toward the heel. While the shape traditionally features a pointed heel, this piece incorporates a flattened base that allows the pipe to sit upright. A subtle, seamless line runs along the underside of the bowl, preserving the visual impression of a pointed heel in profile — a clever feat of craftsmanship. Following this line, the shank flares dramatically toward the junction, creating a balanced silhouette opposite the bulbous bowl. The junction is accented with a thick band of pale Juma, providing a tasteful pop of contrast. Dressed in a warm, smooth finish, the stummel highlights tendrils of flame grain along the bowl's flanks, while the rim displays an appealing field of birdseye.
