Antonio Lancellotti's pipes reflect a thoughtful, organic approach to shaping, balancing clean lines with graceful proportions and a distinctly Italian sense of refinement. Based in Oppido Lucano in Italy's Basilicata region, Lancellotti began making pipes in 2021 after years of independent study, later refining his craft through guidance from artisans such as Davide Iafisco, Angelo Del Prete, and Cornelius Mänz. Favoring freehand designs, he allows each block of Italian briar to guide the finished form. Lancellotti's work combines careful craftsmanship with an adaptable creative process, producing refined pipes with a character all their own.

Among the first batch of Antonio Lancellotti pipes featured on our site, this Volcano highlights his fluid shaping style and his ability to bring out the finest qualities of a given block of briar. The Volcano shape is traditionally defined by its gently tapering bowl, often accented by a ridgeline along the lower portion of the stummel. Lancellotti embraces that convention but interprets it with a softer, more organic touch. The ridgeline flows naturally from the bowl's dramatically lifted heel and continues along the underside of the stummel before terminating at the shank face, where it creates a striking lenticular profile.

The bowl is shaped with comfort as much as aesthetics in mind. Its gradual, high-set taper nestles naturally in the hand, while the elevated heel rests comfortably in the palm. The shaping follows the briar's grain with remarkable precision: sweeping cross grain frames both flanks, while a dense field of birdseye blankets the underside. Scattered flecks of plateau remain throughout the underside of the composition, lending the pipe an understated organic character that complements its flowing silhouette.
