About This Pipe
Since their founding in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello's commitment to handcrafting high-quality pipes has helped elevate the reputation of Italian pipes to luxury status. Furthermore, Castello's personal shaping approach to pipes has helped cultivate the bowl-centric and whimsical Italian neoclassic aesthetic. Castello's "Pi" stamp denotes a piece dressed in two distinct finishes. In the case of this bent Billiard, said finishes are the Sea Rock rustication, adorning the shank and half of the bowl, and a smooth, honey-blonde stain along the other side of the bowl and shank. The bowl is voluptuous and palm-filling, but that supple roundness is contrasted by the diamond shank, which is paneled for a firmer, more structured aesthetic. The stem continues that hard-lined motif, and the half-bend balances out the bowl's hearty mass. Such dimensions are welcome for a piece such as this, offering plenty of briar to showcase Castello's unique dual finishes.
