About This Pipe

Carlo Scotti brought the Castello brand to life in the late 1940s, crafting his pipes in the same shadow of the Alps as the likes of Savinelli and the Rovera family. Scotti's workshop would eventually yield the independent workshops of Caminetto and Radice, both founded by former Castello artisans, but the Castello tradition continues today with the neoclassic designs that make northern Italy such an influential player in the industry of pipe making.

The swirling cross grain of the bowl and the bright red-walnut stain of the stummel make this bent Dublin particularly attractive, though Castello's craftsmanship helps a considerable bit, as well. The bowl is classically shaped — conical, with a light forward cant — and backed by a high-kicking shank decorated with more cross grain and a smattering of birdseye. The stem is tapered black acrylic and falls back in a light arc to the bit, a handsome finish to a handsome pipe. Smooth to the touch, beautiful to the eye, and less than a single ounce in weight, this piece is sure to please Dublin fans on the lookout for a classic rendition of the shape that still manages to stand out in a crowd.
