About This Pipe
Federico Becker represents the third generation of his family turning pipes, following in the footsteps of grandfather, Fritz, and father, Paolo, who founded the Becker workshop together in 1974. The self-titled brand Federico carries on today is known for organic renditions of classic shapes, most commonly featuring sharp, angular heels.
This bent Billiard is no exception, as the heel comes to a distinct point at the bottom of the fore before falling back in a long arc that shapes the underside all the way to the bit. The stummel is sandblasted, and the bowl shaped with arrow-straight walls and colored with a dark stain that pairs well with the cumberland stem. With the exception of the fore and aft of the bowl, curves draw this piece in its entirety, and Becker's precision when shaping the briar allows this piece to weigh in barely over a single ounce — making the piece easily clenched in the jaw, when combined with the arc of the stem.
