About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
Having received Cavicchi's impressive CCCCC designation, this bent Dublin is quite remarkable. In true Italian fashion, the bowl is quite sizable, and draws in the eye with its subtly undulating, plateau-crowned rim and spur-like heel. The bowl's walls showcase plenty of the handsome grain that earned this piece its five-C grade. Behind the bowl, a right-angled transition introduces a long, subtly tapering shank, which is joined by a softly bent saddle stem. For fans of Cavicchi's work, this unique Dublin rendition is a must-have, especially since it falls among some of the artisan's highest graded work.
