About This Pipe
With a background in architecture and industrial design, Chris Asteriou brings a practiced understanding of form and function to his pipe making, deftly uniting visual flair with everyday practicality. From faithful Anglo-French classics to striking, sculptural one-offs, his portfolio reflects both versatility and a confident command of line and proportion.
This bent Pot leans toward Asteriou's more traditional sensibilities. Stout and reassuring in hand, it echoes Danish-influenced interpretations of the shape, pairing compact muscularity with an elegant curvature. Though its substance could suggest visual heft, Asteriou offsets that impression with a gently rising shank-and-stem arrangement. The understated lift balances the bowl's mass and promotes an easy, natural smoking posture.
A smoky smooth finish envelops the stummel, drawing out handsome grain throughout. Cross grain climbs the bowl's fore and aft, while dense birdseye spreads across the flanks. A crisp boxwood accent provides a touch of brightness, its warm tone complementing the pipe's refined palette.
