About This Pipe
Despite the rustic texture of the sandblast, the pale, natural finish of this Barone bent bulldog lends it a softer aesthetic, almost a glow, as it were. The contrast between the virgin briar and the deep, dark look of the cumberland stem is quite striking, contributing an eye-catching sense of definition which would have been lost with a light-colored stem, and probably rather less effective with plain black vulcanite. Every bit as striking is the shaping, particularly in profile where the gentle curves of this briar show how surprisingly graceful such a full and proportionally compact form can be.
