About This Pipe
Jason Mouton is an American artisan based in Gueydan, Louisiana, and his pipes often reflect their American origins, showcasing classically compact, muscular shaping. This Flipping Fugu is a rather gestural, avante garde offering from the artisan, replete with plenty of dynamic curves and organic flourishes.
Whereas most Fugu are rendered horizontally, this rendition displays a dramatic verticality that, in combination with its broad, flat heel, allows it to remain upright without the aid of a stand. This upright posture vaults the impressively lengthy bamboo shank into the air, where it patiently awaits your next puff. The dark color of the bamboo creates a lovely contrast with the light, natural hue of the stummel, and the former's rhythmic, grooved texture adds even more naturalistic appeal to the already highly organic form. With its easy sitting capabilities, dynamic shaping, and beautiful, organic aesthetic, this Fugu is perfect for the smoker in search of a unique desk pipe.
