Sandblasted Dublin Sitter with Boxwood (Friar) (C) (07) (2026) Tobacco Pipe

Not just renowned for his pipe making but also for his music, Jody Davis takes influence from the American and Danish schools (of pipe making, that is) when crafting his artisan pipes. He took the importance of using the best materials possible from the Danish school and Jess Chonowitsch in particular, and later traveled to Vermont to learn from famed American artisan J.T. Cooke.

This Dublin of Jody's making is also a Sitter, its heel flattened to allow it to sit upright without assistance. The bowl is still sharply canted in the manner of a typical Dublin, and the stummel is sandblasted with a dark stain to provide a sleek appearance and rich, unpredictable touch. The stummel is backed by a stem of cream, black, and green-striped vulcanite inlaid with a ring of boxwood. The stem is fascinating to behold, its stripes thin and precise and very well done. Jody's prowess with shaping and finishing make this piece one of particular beauty, one sure to be at home in any collection of unconventional Dublins.
