About This Pipe
La Bruyere pipes are carved by Thomas Manzoni, a seasoned artisan who spent nearly two decades honing his craft at the Chapuis-Comoy factory in Saint-Claude, France — the genesis of modern pipe making. The weight of Saint-Claude's history is not lost on Manzoni, as he draws endless inspiration from both the pipe-making institutions and artisans around him. Having trained under skilled craftsmen Pierre Morel and Bruno Nuttens, Manzoni has cultivated a refined style that is sure to delight those drawn to updated takes on Anglo-French designs.
As to be expected from a Stack, this offering boasts a tall bowl — over two inches deep — that stands proudly at the fore of a trim, low-set shank. Said shank joins a demurely bent, tapered stem; their junction is accented by a gleaming metallic accent band that adds a dose of flash to the composition. The stummel wears a smooth, rich burgundy finish, which highlights tight curlicues of birdseye and tendrils of flame grain with stunning clarity and no shortage of refined elegance. For fans of classic shapes who prefer longer-smoking pipes, this bent Stack is sure to make an excellent smoking companion.
