About This Pipe
La Bruyere pipes are carved by Thomas Manzoni, a seasoned artisan who spent nearly two decades honing his craft at the Chapuis-Comoy factory in Saint-Claude, France — the genesis of modern pipe making. The weight of Saint-Claude's history is not lost on Manzoni, as he draws endless inspiration from both the pipe-making institutions and artisans around him. Having trained under skilled craftsmen Pierre Morel and Bruno Nuttens, Manzoni has cultivated a refined style that is sure to delight those drawn to updated takes on Anglo-French designs.
A charmingly plump take on the classic shape, this bent Apple features a stout, robust bowl that conforms quite nicely to the contours of the hand. Said bowl is paired to an upswept shank and elegantly bent stem that, together, promote a comfortable smoking posture. The stummel wears a crisp, earthy sandblast and an inviting auburn stain, both of which accentuate the briar's tight stacks of ring grain and swirling maelstroms of birdseye with astonishing clarity. A gleaming metallic band adorns the junction between shank and stem, adding just the right amount of flash to the composition.
