About This Pipe
Since its establishment in 1998, L'Anatra has become a mainstay of Italian pipe making and an influential part of the Pesaro tradition. Evocative finishes, playful shaping, and exquisite silverwork typify L'Anatra's craftsmanship and reflect the marque's bold, whimsical spirit. There is perhaps no better encapsulation of L'Anatra's unique character than their telltale signature: a tiny silver duck head, found on every pipe stem.
Pipes from L'anatra's Gigante series comprise some of the workshop's largest pieces, further enhancing the substance of the brand's already larger-than-average output. These pipes present extended lengths and hearty constructions, their proportions often dramatized, even within the bounds of the Pesaro school. This particular Ramses is a unique interpretation of the classic Bo Nordh shape, presenting with a plump, Egg-like bowl pushing out of a flat, curved base. This base creates an extended, curling heel beneath the bowl and poises the shank and stem in nearly vertical fashion, allowing for easy jaw-hanging. Dressed in a craggy rustication, the stummel here is rich with texture to appreciate while smoked.
