About This Pipe
Tennessee-based artisan Micah Redmond is known for combining the compact, muscular shaping of American pipe making with the soft curves and flowing, organic lines of the Danish style. He's also been known to play with proportion, with many of his pipes featuring either dramatically long or extra-abbreviated shanks. Upon a mere cursory glance, this Egg falls easily in the latter category. The bowl's proportions are also quite dramatic, to be sure, with the walls measuring over two inches in height. The juxtaposition of the towering bowl against the super short shank-and-stem arrangement makes for a highly distinctive look, and lands this pipe firmly in Nosewarmer territory. A craggy sandblast dresses the stummel, offering a wealth of tactile intrigue and a pleasantly rugged appearance, while the Ivorite mount and cream-colored Bakelite stem lighten things up and add an airy note to the palette.
