About This Pipe

Mike Bay's style embodies a distinctively Danish aesthetic, enriched by a touch of his former mentor Tom Eltang's influence. Bay's portfolio is easily recognizable, defined by his penchant for gestural, forward-urging designs, clean lines, and distinctive finishing work — all aspects illustrated with this particular Acorn.

An especially organic interpretation of the Acorn, this pipe draws close to the silhouette of its namesake while introducing a few distinctive details. The bowl tapers to a pronounced, pointed heel before its walls rise and flare outward, flowing into softly rounded shoulders that curve inward toward the rim. The rim itself is smooth and subtly inflated, adding a gentle contrast to the bowl's contours. Three knuckles of bamboo accent the shank, extending the profile to just under seven inches in overall length. Bay's signature rustication covers the bowl in a deep black finish, emphasizing a rugged, tactile character, while the smooth rim and a small section of exposed briar along the shank provide an understated contrast.
