About This Pipe

Influenced by the Danish greats, Mike Sebastian Bay boasts a portfolio full of refined interpretations of classic shapes. This bent Brandy from the artisan combines the soft, gentle curves of the Danish carving style with the compact, muscular proportions of American pipe making. Dressed in one of the artisan's signature, unique rustications and falling just short — or perhaps in this case, long — of Nosewarmer territory, this offering has all the makings of a stylish jaw hanger.

The bowl of this bent Brandy is charmingly stout and plump. It possesses a lifted heel: the result of the swift, sweeping curve that begins at the shank and carries all the way through the fore of the composition. From said heel, the bowl's walls taper inward toward the rim, which is smooth and subtly chamfered for the easy loading of a favorite tobacco blend. A slender band near the junction is the only other slip of smooth briar to be observed on this piece; the rest of the stummel wears a dark rustication featuring deep, wavy, serpentine channels that lend the briar a highly unique appearance and an equally unique texture for the hand to appreciate. A well-bent saddle stem completes the ensemble. Fashioned from brindled vulcanite, its light khaki swirls make an excellent complement to the stummel's dark, wavy rustication.
