About This Pipe
After a long stint working at Castello for Carlo Scotti, Luigi Radice left and formed the Caminetto brand with Guiseppe Ascorti, who he worked with at Castello. In 1980, Luigi went on to found his own brand, Radice, which has become well-renowned in Italy for its high quality pipes. This Tomato embodies neoclassic Italian style with it's bowl-forward disposition, and it's compact in length, with a broad, flattened heel that allows it to rest upright. From this heel, flame grain whips around a low waist and shoots across the walls' pronounced taper toward the birdseye-adorned rim. Within the rim's boundaries squats a modest chamber, while out back, an arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement tapers out of a defined transition. The stummel wears the workshop's handsome Clear smooth finish to show off a wealth of attractive grain throughout. Overall, the piece would make an excellent addition to the rotation for those looking for a quick-smoking desk pipe.
