About This Pipe

Sabina Santos lives in Portugal and is one of the few artisan pipe makers in the region. She discovered her passion for pipe making online after leaving her corporate job. Initially, she learned through trial and error, but her skills quickly evolved. This journey took her to Denmark for mentorships under renowned artisan pipe makers in the region. During several trips, she refined her craft, enhancing her skills in both finishing and shaping. Sabina combines her natural talent with an infectious enthusiasm for design, making her work stand out in the pipe-making community.

2026 marks Sabina's 13th anniversary as a pipe maker, and in celebration, she has carved this handsome Apple. Her infectious design sensibility comes through in the form's atypical accent and eye-catching palette, creating a composition that feels distinctly modern. Compact and generously proportioned, the bowl is plump through the profile, particularly across its lower section, where the walls rise with a gentle taper toward the rim. The shank carries that same substantial character, its rounded profile accentuated by a soft cheeking that gives the transition additional definition.

The junction is marked by a striking mammoth accent, whose naturally patterned grain introduces a network of fine, tendril-like markings to the composition. The mammoth is framed by a vibrant blue vulcanite stem and a matching blue accent, creating a vivid burst of color against the warm tones of the stummel. Dressed in a smooth chestnut stain, the briar reveals lovely flame grain cascading along the bowl's flanks, while the underside displays a sea of clean, densely packed birdseye.
