HU - Nashville County 100g
Mild and average blend
Was really excited to try this one as I like all the components in the blend. Maybe I got a dud tin. I tried in several different briars of different shapes, billiard, bent billiard, rodesian and they were all muted flavor wise. Really pleasant tin note, but ultimately just tastes like a weaker version of Carter Hall

Peterson - My Mixture 965 50g
Enjoyable blend despite latakia
I generally stay way from latakia, finding its flavor a bit off putting. This blend achieves a nice balance with the other varieties. I don't know/care what the latakia ratio is in the blends, but this is light years better than early morning pipe for me. Tin notes: Smells a bit like an old BBQ joint, a good one. Mild vinegar, woody, dirt, its very rich. Tasting notes: First light and puffs are pungent, but don't let that throw you off. It really calms and mellows out. I'm pleased the latakia isn't as strongly evident, you can get a little bit of the whole mixture. I'm reaching for flavor description, can't quite put my finger on it. The smoky woodiness is still there, but fainter. There's almost an unsweetend citrus mixed with bread quality that's really smooth and enjoyable. I think this is a great blend for exploring latakia without overwhelm. Its well balanced and smooth once you get into the bowl.

Orlik - Golden Sliced 100g
Just a solid classic
This is one of the first tobaccos I ever smoked and come back to it often. Every time I take a break from it and come back I ask why I quit smoking it in the first place. Orlik never disappoints. Tin Notes: Very slight sweet floral perfume, pepper, leather, hay Tasting Notes: Similar to tin. The grassiness is more pronounced and savory spicy retrohale. Its not trying anything experimental or funky. Orlik is just quality, delicious Virginia and does a great service to the tradition of pipe tobacco.

Cornell & Diehl - We Three Kings 2oz
Great Blend - Actual Review
It was a high demand batch that was restocked in a few days and these whiners bemoaning the ordering process took away from a wonderful blend. Doesn't bite and smells of snickerdoodle cookies when smoking. Definitely a Christmas blend and a satisfying light anytime smoke. I'll be rotating this in this all winter. Tin Notes: Faint, gentle spice almost like a sweet curry or allspice. Sweet virginia hay and some zest. Tasting Notes: Baked cinnamon, cookies, bready sweetness

Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
Respite from the paradox of choice
When you want something straightforward and tasty reach for carter hall. Mild enjoyable room note. The flavor of burley wins the tug of war just barely, but the balance is with Virginia is pleasant. Fig, cocoa, nutty, little bit of hay. Smooth retrohale. Packs easy and stays lit. Sip slow burns nice and even. If the overwhelming endless amount of blends is paralyzing you, reach for Carter Hall and you'll always enjoy it.

Missouri Meerschaum - Cobbit Elf with Starry Night Stem
Another great cobb from MM
Punches way outside its weightclass and delivers a great smoke akin to some of the higher dollar briars in my collection. Looks great too, I especially enjoy the stem being different colors outside of the usual Missouri Meerschaum black. The bowl is deep and generous for a cobb expect at least an hour of smoke time. The extra length really suits the pipe well, very handsome indeed.
