In Appreciation of Colorful Pipe Making

If you've ever explored the vast assortment of pipes we have on-site, you may have noticed any number of things to compare and contrast from various pipe makers. I found myself perusing our portfolio and realized that we have never really focused a blog post on the wonderful spread of color utilized in pipe making. Amid the classic browns and blacks with similarly neutral-colored stems, there are numerous selections available that are destined to add color in a splendid array to your personal collection. Let's take a closer look at some of the eye-catching colors utilized in pipe making, from finishes to stems and everything in between, organized by color in order of the rainbow. Let's face it, we all need a little whimsy in our lives.
Note: The pipes included in this piece are based on product availability at the time of writing.
Pipes Featuring Multiple Colors
What better place to start than with pipes that are multicolored?
Nørding Harmony Freehand
Harmony Freehand pipes are among the most avant-garde finishes in Nørding's portfolio, featuring a papier-mâché decoration that varies from realistic animal depictions to more abstract illustrations. It's certainly eclectic and further individualizes his designs in the pipe-making world.
Each one looks different, and they're all really cool. I'll let the unique artistry speak for itself. Here are the Harmony Freehands that we currently have available:
Savinelli
Camouflage
Savinelli has an assortment of colorful series, including pipes that feature multiple colors. One of Savinelli's most non-traditional series, the Camouflage line fits each pipe to an acrylic mouthpiece of mottled green, cream, brown, and black, blending in with foliage and fitting in with the line's name.
Columbina
The blue-and-red stem on the Columbina pipes from Savinelli evokes the colorful costume of Columbina from commedia dell'arte, a comedic wife character in Italian theater.
Vigna
These pipes highlight an assortment of colors, inspired by Italy's storied wine culture; "Vigna" translates to vineyard from Italian. The alluring colors of the pictured stem swirl with purple, maroon, and white hues, covering the full spectrum of wine varietals. The stems vary on-site, all unique and evocative of the colors of wine.
Peterson Dracula
What would this list be without the iconic Irish marque? Instantly, my mind went to the Dracula series, this year's edition featuring a spigot-mount orientation for the first time, coming out on July 25. The blood-red and swirling black lines on the stem earn these pipes a spot in our post here. It's hauntingly enticing, much like the Count himself.
Il Duca
In this piece from Max Rimensi, the stummel's black-and-orange stain tracks sandblasted flame grain from the heel as it spreads throughout, the streak pattern de-emphasizing the growth rings and showcasing the beauty of the briar. This one's coloration reminds me of Halloween.
Werner Mummert LEGO
Mummert imbues his raw creativity and aesthetic with lively colors and original designs that push the boundaries of pipe making as a craft, as seen through this LEGO Poker, with each "brick" of the stummel stained either in yellow or in red. In a future post in appreciation of creative materials utilized in pipe making, a variety of his pieces would surely make the list.
Sabina Santos
This next pipe is more subtly multicolored. The green-colored vulcanite stem isn't the only pop of color on this handmade piece from Sabina — An accent of recycled industrial plastic adds iridescent complexity to the overall design, with shimmers of blue, purple, orange, green, and more to get lost in by looking closely. This accent is definitely among my favorites.
Pipes Featuring Red
Red seemed to be quite popular as a choice for ruby-stained bowls in a more subtle fashion. However, for the purposes of this piece, I only included the most vivid red hues I could find.
Mastro Geppetto
Liscia
A variety of selections dressed in the Liscia finish are fitted to colorful stems, including this piece with a shimmering, crimson-hued acrylic stem.
Rusticato
This pipe's red coloration blends from the crimson-hued acrylic stem to a ruby-tinged stain, the stummel wearing Mastro Geppetto's craggy Rusticato finish in a complementary fashion.
Savinelli's Mini Series
This series features moderately sized Nosewarmer shapes, with a variety of different color acrylic stems to choose from, such as red, yellow, and green.
Davide Iafisco
This sandblasted piece showcases a striking contrast between the maroon-colored long vulcanite stem and the ebony finish of the stummel.
Pipes Featuring Orange
Sunny, bright orange stems were the main theme in this particular color that I gathered while conducting my research.
Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation
A few series from Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation feature colorful pipes, including the Fathers, Friends and Fire line, which celebrates Father's Day annually. This bright orange acrylic stem adds a contemporary touch to its design.
A few other selections from Erik Stokkebye feature an orange stem, such as their Pipe of the Year for 2025.
Brebbia Sun
Though you could argue that this pipe's stem looks more yellow like the sun, from my perspective, it fits right into the orange section in a bright way. This line is aptly named for its sunny acrylic stem of golden hues, sure to brighten any smoker's day and elicit a smile.
Pipes Featuring Yellow
From my deep dive into our full portfolio, I was definitely left with a few takeaways. One of them was that there were a LOT of pipes that feature yellow stems, from Nørding to Moonshine Pipes, Peterson's Rosslare series to Soleil pipes from Genod, and Vauen to BriarWorks and Rattray's; including them all would have been a bit redundant. I included two selections below to showcase the sunny and popular stem-color selection.
BriarWorks
A variety of selections from BriarWorks are adorned with an amber stem. This one is really bright and light in color, which I thought was unique among the myriad yellow stems I came across.
Rattray's Beltane's Fire
One of the four seasonal festivals in Celtic cultures, Beltane falls on the night of April 30, celebrating the start of summer. This series pays tribute to this historic celebration with a Bullmoose design and three acrylic stems: black, red, and the yellow stem equipped in the example below.
Pipes Featuring Green
I was delighted to see several green selections, mainly in the emerald shade. Of course, when I think of green, I think of Peterson of Ireland.
Peterson
Peterson's signature emerald stain is on display here, serving as a uniquely Irish take on the dress-pipe aesthetic.
Tom Eltang's Eltang Basic
Tom Eltang's Eltang Basic series highlights his signature Poker design. This particular example is dressed in the Green sandblasted finish. Other colorful Pokers from Eltang Basic include Orange and Brown renditions.
Genod
This stunning piece is dressed in a striking green stain and is fitted to a jet-black stem. This is one elegant-looking pipe.
Molina Barasso
This vivid green color is eye-catching and is sure to delight those who love the luckiest color of all. This finish has a shimmery quality, with darker and lighter shades of green shining together in one smooth dress.
Pipes Featuring Blue
To be honest, of all the colors, blue is my personal favorite. A variety of selections on-site feature the cool-toned color, and honestly, I might have included one too many examples within this section. In my defense, they all are very cool-looking.
Ardor Giove
This pipe finished in the Giove auburn shade is adorned with a stem of an electric-blue hue with iridescent swirls, contrasting the stummel quite nicely.
Savinelli
As I mentioned earlier, Savinelli has a wide array of colorful pipes on-site. A few blue beauties certainly caught my eye.
Alligator
This selection features the Alligator finish, readily evoking the scaly hide of its namesake and also stained a vibrant blue shade. The acrylic stem is also dressed in a marbled blue color, making the whole composition uniform. There are also red and green-stained Alligator pipes on-site, equally stunning to behold.
Oceano
One of my personal favorite stems across our portfolio, the Oceano series features a swirling blue-and-white stem, evoking the appearance of the ocean in all its splendor.
Vauen Azzurro
The Azzurro series is defined by a vivid light-blue stain, one of Vauen's most colorful and vibrant series.
Chris Askwith
This bent Dublin features a striking polyester stem that immediately attracts the eye with a stunning electric-blue hue, standing out sharply against the rest of the shape's dark palette.
Bill Shalosky
The lengthy stem on this bent Billiard from Bill Shalosky lends a touch of modernity to this traditional piece in a gorgeous light-blue shade.
Missouri Meerschaum
The Freebird
I hadn't noticed this pipe on-site until I began looking at our portfolio for colorful selections. This one is so pretty, stunning with a bold, blue corn-cob bowl and a marbled-blue acrylic stem to boot.
The Raven
The light aqua blue color on this pipe's acrylic stem is really unique. There are some lighter specs in there, making it really ethereal in aesthetic. Another personal favorite of mine, for sure.
Molina Barasso
Molina has several really colorful pipes to explore on-site. This blue, smooth finish is really striking, with a shimmery aesthetic that one can get lost in, with darker and lighter flecks.
Nørding Compass
Not only does this particular bowl feature an electric blue, but the lengthy stem does as well. It's a workhorse smoker that is also really awesome for the lover of blue.
Pipes Featuring Purple
I was wondering if I would come across any pipes that utilized purple. I happened to come across two of them, which I've included below.
The French Pipe Tuyau
Beyond this violet acrylic stem, a few other colors are found in this series, including rose (pink) and rouge (red).
Chris Askwith
This lavender stem of hand-cut polyester is very modern in aesthetic against a more classic bowl.
Pipes Featuring Pink
Yes, there are even a few pipes that feature shades of pink.
Vauen Rosé
This series stands out in Vauen's portfolio, with a ruby-hued stain and bands of anodized aluminum, showcasing a lovely, swirling rose-colored pattern. This might just be my favorite colorful band on the list.
Micah Redmond
A radiant pink Bakelite stem is a colorful addition to this pipe from Micah Redmond.
As you can see, there are quite a few colorful pipes on-site. Of course, given that we get new pipes daily, this list will likely vary in the future. For now, we can appreciate the talented artistry of pipe makers and artisans who have incorporated brilliant colors into their designs. Which pipe is your favorite on this list? Let me know in the comments.

The Missouri meerschaum Shire Cobbit with the Saphire stem is truly stunning. The deep blue shines in the sunlight and is mesmerizing
You describe Briarworks pipes as having amber stems, but the specifications data lists them as acrylic. Which is correct?
Hi Leslie! The name of the listing refers to the stem as amber in color and I was using that word as another term for yellow to try to avoid too much repetition of language there.
Thanks for the colorful article. I am always on the lookout for elegant, stylish, and well-smoking pipes.
We are so lucky to be smoking pipes during these times, so much creativity and talent out there.
