Stocking Stuffers for Pipe Smokers

It doesn't take an artisan pipe, an S.T. Dupont lighter, or a case of rare tobacco to delight a pipe smoker on Christmas morning. Many little things appropriate for stocking stuffers are also necessary, and pipe enthusiasts appreciate and depend on them. They're items that are often overlooked and, therefore, doubly treasured. Any pipe smoker can tell you how inconvenient it is to run out of pipe cleaners or lighter flints. They're inexpensive but imperative, and items like these are excellent for bringing joy this holiday.
We've assembled an easy guide to stocking stuffers for the pipe smoker, making it easy to bring additional joy to Christmas morning. Most people find themselves trying to fill in the gift gaps around this time of year, and this list provides smaller items appropriate for stockings that any pipe smoker will appreciate.

Pipe Stands
This Economy Folding Stand is made of plastic, is extremely light, and is inexpensive ($1).
Unless your pipe smoker owns only Pokers or other self-standing pipes, a pipe rest is a convenience they'll treasure. They can be high-end, but as stocking stuffers, we recommend small, folding rests that fit easily in a pocket for on-the-go use or in a Christmas stocking for an unexpected surprise.

The same efficient design is also available in metal for sturdier, longer-lasting practicality. This chrome version, for example, possesses a mirror-like sheen:
Rattray's Flat Fred pipe rests also come in chrome, as well as in black and gunmetal. Each is emblazoned with the Rattray's name.

Just as convenient are leather pipe rests by Chacom, Peterson, and 8deco, and this version by Claudio Albieri, called the Origami, unfolds to provide a mat for separating and preparing tobacco:

Pouches
Any pipe smoker who ever leaves their house needs a tobacco pouch to carry their favorite blend with them. They vary in color and material, and some are made with an extra pocket to carry a pipe or three. For example, this Smokingpipes pouch accommodates two pipes as well as tobacco:

Pouches can zip up or fold over to keep tobacco fresh and range in price from easily affordable to luxury versions, as made by Savinelli, Albieri, or Dunhill. Our full complement of pipe rests and pouches may be found here.
Cleaning Supplies

Cleaning supplies keep our pipes fresh, and fresh pipes deliver more nuanced flavor. Yet cleaning supplies are often forgotten or depleted. Every pipe smoker can always use more pipe cleaners on hand. Few experiences are more frustrating than running out of pipe cleaners when they're most needed. A packet or two of pipe cleaners will be heartily appreciated in any pipe smoker's stocking. Bristle pipe cleaners are excellent for deep cleaning, and tapered and extra-fluffy cleaners certainly have their uses, but for versatility, we recommend regular cleaners like those made by B.J. Long and Brigham.
To accompany those pipe cleaners, consider a pipe cleaner sleeve. Carrying loose pipe cleaners is a dangerous business: they tend to scatter like dandelion seeds with the least provocation. A stylish sleeve from Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation will keep them organized.
Something that your particular pipe smoker may have omitted from their cleaning supplies is specialty brushes designed for deep cleaning a pipe's interior. These are items that may be especially welcome when found in a Christmas stocking, like these Neerup chamber and mortise brushes:

If you live with a pipe smoker, you've heard them complain about stem oxidation. Obsidian Oil helps keep those vulcanite stems oxidation-free. A little lasts a long time, and the bottles are small enough to fit into the tiniest remaining crevice in an overstuffed stocking.

Polishing cloths also aid in keeping pipes gleaming, like this Magic Cloth from Savinelli, one side of which is impregnated with carnauba wax and silicone. A quick rubdown after each smoke is excellent for maintaining a pipe:
Many other pipe cleaning supplies make the lives of pipe smokers easier, and you can browse them all here.
Tobacco

Thousands of pipe tobaccos await every pipe smoker, so it's difficult to choose one as a gift. If favorites are known, a tin in a stocking is a winning strategy, but if you're not sure, we recommend something festive and committed to the season, like Low Country Carolina Christmas.
Carolina Christmas is a blend of proprietary Red Virginia Cavendish, heirloom Burleys, matured Red and Bright flue-cured leaf, genuine St. James Perique, and Katerini Turkish. It delivers natural sweetness refined by notes of baking spices, tangy citrus, and wildflower honey — a Christmas tobacco ideal for Christmas morning.
Ignition
Flame is necessary to keep pipes lit, and lighters often require flints, which are easy to forget. Any pipe smoker will appreciate extra flints on hand, and we have them for IM Corona, Dunhill Rollagas, Dunhill Unique, and Kiribi lighters.

If your pipe smoker prefers matches, be advised that they are used up quickly, and more may be appreciated for Christmas. Most already own lighters, but this could be an opportunity for those who do not own a Zippo pipe lighter. Zippo is classically American, with their iconic click and unique heft in hand. They're fun to fiddle with, and they work better in the wind than most other lighters because of the windproof design and reliable ignition. Many designs are available to suit the tastes of any pipe smoker. Be sure to pick up a pipe lighter rather than a regular lighter. The difference is that there are holes in the sides of the flame cage so it fits over the bowl of the pipe and permits angled application, whereas regular Zippos have vertical flames only.

Any of these items would be welcome stocking stuffers for the pipe smoker in your life, and if their stocking were stuffed with a little of everything here, that pipe smoker would be deliriously pleased. If it seems confusing, our friendly Customer Representatives (843-281-9304) are available to answer questions and provide assistance. And if you happen to be a pipe smoker yourself, referring your loved ones to this list could make your Christmas morning that much happier.

This is a great guide and I saw a few items I’ll be purchasing for pipe smoking friends (and maybe one or two for myself!).
It looks like the Low Country Carolina Christmas already is out of inventory—any chance of a restock?
