Morgan, the last of the wooden whaling ships, currently docked in Mystic, Connecticut. Manufactured by Cornell & Diehl, Captain Earle's pipe tobaccos pay tribute to his legacy, each blend in the series alluding to an important time in his life.
Captain Earle's Nightwatch pipe tobacco is deep, rich, and full of smoky Latakia — blended with Orientals, Virginias, and Perique. Maybe I’m not sophisticated enough for this one but the initial 1/8 of the bowl was pleasant and enjoyable but was quickly followed by the taste of burnt wet newspaper , almost like a roll your own with copy paper , unfortunately not for me

Flavor level is full
Power level is actually a tic under medium giving an Enthusiast a powerful flavor profile without the intense nicotine levels that can prevent a blend from appealing to more people. that said, bigger bowls amp up the power beyond medium for the seasoned Enthusiast.
For me the Captain Earles series has been a study in two main themes. How sweet and strong play together and how those two can changes during a bowl.
This blend highlights an intense start with big flavors that mellow over the course of a bowl.

ike it as long as it's not a Lat bomb. I have not smoked a more smooth Latakia blend than this one.Will be ordering more for sure. It's got me in that can't wait til the next bowl mood. I have not until now found a blend with Latakia in it that smoked this smooth. It usually take at least a couple of bowls of a new blend before I move it onto my top tobacco list but after the first bowl I am already calling this one a top 5 blend. I am completely sold on this fine blend. I can envision many enjoyable times smoking this special Latakia offering.There is a sweetness to it that is intriguing and a lingering after taste that is most pleasant. The tobacco performs very well with no re-lights. I love it.
