Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
God bless Kentucky tobacco growers, their hard work is the foundation of this excellent no holds barred blend.

re bedtime so, throwing caution to the wind, I opened the pouch and filled a favorite large Peterson Bulldog folding stuffing and packing til it was just right. It’s typical of Amphora, a broken flake with large pieces of very dark tobacco...moisture content seemed about perfect. It took a bit of effort to get it going but once it was, I was entertained with thick, rich Burley smoke. It stayed lit very well. A rich dark flavor with just enough Virginia to sweeten things up a bit. I’m a Burley lover and this is a good one. I’ll be planning an order for more as I go through this pouch having not finished the first bowl as yet. It hits all the right buttons for a rich, sweet smoke. Not a hint of bite or steamed tongue here, just good solid tobacco flavor and easy smoking. Three cheers to Amphora for another winner. As a matter of fact, I’m ordering more right now. Read Less
Dark Fired without the Nic Hit
August 01, 2019
Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
Bold dark-fired blends taste great to me, but the nic hit can be debilitating. Amphora Kentucky Blend has all the flavor without the nicotine bomb. I'm not saying zero nic-hit, but it's much more manageable than other blends. Much welcome!
So. Good.

Room note is a tray of Alton Brown marshmallow recipe baking in the oven. The burleys tame the Virginias way down, making this actually smoke fairly cool. Hits the Virginia:Burley ratio about equivalent with Peterson's Irish Dew. Sweet, smooth, sp... Read More
icy, and rich, yet not so complex that you couldn't smoke this all day. I smoke this when I want the fullness of an English but don't want to dedicate my nose to Latakia for the rest of the day.
Of note: As always with VA/Bur blends, there is a sweet spot to be found with a moderate smoking pace. It's a broad strike zone, but don't stray. Lean towards sipping and you'll maximize the flavor potential, but speed it up too much and you get the worst of both worlds; ashy burley plus a furnace temp Virginia
Pairs better with whites than reds if you're drinking wine. Better with malty beers than ales, either of which is better than wine. Iced tea or hot coffee is best. Read Less

This is really good DKF and smoke it a lot. Beautiful broken flakes with a nice smell in the pouch. I never paid much attention to pouch types before, but I’m now. A new favorite, buying more.
Tasty Burley smokiness

Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
Kentucky has an awesome sweet, vinegary, hickory smoked bacon smell in the bag. It smokes with a similar flavor in the pipe. Well balanced with a bready Virginia, the smoke is thick with leading notes of savory smokey hickory, sweetness and spice. Su... Read More
pported by occasional smooth floral, woody, tart, and savory dryness. Medium to bold taste. Nice nic hit, probably best enjoyed in smaller sized pipes. It doesn't take much to enjoy the meaty BBQ smokey flavor of Kentucky. The flavor profile lands in a broadly appealing zone and should be very enjoyable for most every pipe enthusiasts. This is a winner from Amphora. Read Less

Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
I happened upon Amphora Kentucky through the tobacco finder on this website. I was searching for something for something with a little stronger profile. This blend suited that bill.

more difficult to get packed properly. It requires a different pack from most other blends I've tried, too easy to pack loosely, but too tightly and it's hard to keep light. Comes from the pouch a little drier than most.
It's not "too" strong, certainly not weak, burns slowly - a bowl seems to last about 50% longer than others I use.
Full of flavor, slightly sweet, Amphora Kentucky has become a daily favorite. I keep trying others, but I keep coming back to Kentucky Blend Read Less
Buen aroma, buen sabor

Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
Aroma festivo, ahumado, a buen tabaco, el sabor el paladar, sin embargo, es suave, tal vez le falta complejidad, pero se sostiene. Ideal para una lectura filosófica o vagar por sus nubes azules (finalmente es lo mismo).
Excellent

Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
Amphora has done a stand-up job with their new tobaccos. Amphora Kentucky is my favorite of their recent entries. When I'm trying something new in a category I'm familiar with, I take note of how captivating it is. With Kentucky blend, I went through... Read More
an ounce inside a week and had ordered more before seeing the bottom of my first pouch. When a tobacco grabs my attention away from everything else I could be smoking like that, I know I have something special in hand. The cut is Amphora's usual broken flake sort. The tobacco retains moisture longer than expected, but nothing that effects its smokability. I never needed dry time before-hand, and just continued to load from the pouch until it was gone. It never really dried out on its own, either. The blend is comprised of Virginias and dark-fired Kentucky with the Kentucky being boldly recognizable. If you're a fan of VA with a just a little KY, this is not that sort of mixture. The robust Burley used contains more than a touch of nicotine, but the fire-curing has seemingly transformed the leaf into a manageable level. The VA provides just enough natural sweetness to take the edge off, leaving us with a cool, balanced, flavorful mixture. The presence of the Virginia is felt more than tasted. Without it, the Kentucky would be dry, overly woody, and possibly harsh (something more like Sail Ivory/Natural). This blend is naturally delicious. I couldn't detect any flavoring agents whatsoever. This is a working man's smoke, something to have in the morning to get you up and moving and keep you going throughout the day. I'd also point out that this is offered at a very reasonable price point. With wonderful dark-fired flakes such as the Mac Baren HH offerings usually costing more, their “better-ness” is solidly challenged by Amphora Kentucky blend. Though, that's not really fair considering they are all Mac Baren made. This is dark-fired bliss. Enjoy. Read Less
High-End Pouch Blend
October 16, 2019
Product: Amphora Kentucky Blend 1.75oz
I bought a pouch of Amphora Kentucky, along with the Burley blend, and found it to be an excellent, high-class dark-fired Kentucky based blend. Well, there are a few of those out there, but what separates this one is the price and pouch packaging.

n terms of comparison, I would guess the proportions of DFK to VA leaf in this one would be similar to MacBaren's Old Dark Fired. The Amphora doesn't have as intense of a vinegar note from the casing that ODF does. In some ways, this tastes more like a slightly toned down version of MB's Bold Kentucky, which is a very good thing, in my opinion. It is earthy, smokey, a touch floral, with plenty of body. Medium to medium-full in terms of flavor, but the nicotine is right around the medium mark, maybe a bit past. Should be satisfying enough for the degenerates like me, but approachable for those who are sensitive to nicotine.
Really, I think it's the DFK-based blend for everyone. And because it's a MacBaren product, we can look forward to regular and easy availability. It's probably a four star blend, but when I consider the price and availability, I feel it's worthy of the full five. Read Less

So, first I tried this from a Missouri Meer Washington straight or some such, MM could stand to shorten their pipe names. It made me sick that first run, in every way it was too strong from that bowl, which isn't massive, but isn't tiny. So, a few mo... Read More
nths later, I tried it from an Old German Clay Cutty Tavern, a tiny pipe good for just a taste. It was so much better! It reminded me a lot of a latakia blend but sweeter and a little less campfirey. Overall, I don't think I'll be able to stomach this from any pipe bigger than tiny, but at least I can appreciate it. From my tiny pipe, it's moderately sweet, though nowhere near my more favored black cavs or even Virginias. I feel like it may just be a decent starting point for Kentucky Dark Fired blends, and it made me decide to actually give them a chance. But only in a tiny pipe for now. Read Less
