A very good tobacco that I like as an occasional alternative to English tobaccos. High quality. Flavorful and pleasant.

Peterson's Irish Oak tin description' "A rich blend of Brazillian and African Virginia leaf with Cavendish and rare Lousisana Perique."
Tin note of vegetation, sugar and plummy. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of light brown, brown and dark brown. Moisture content is great. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is medium. Flavoring is listed as sherry, but it seems to be indistinguishable. Taste is medium to full and moderately consistent, with notes of spicy raisin, sugar, spice, toasted sweet bread, peaty fermented musty vegetation, orange peel/zest, sweet grass, wood, rich earth, savory sweet, mildly bitter, a tangy dark dried fruit background note, and a very peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Cavendish and Perique supporting. Flavoring is cheering on the sidelines. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
My Favorite Peterson Blend

This was one of my first experiences with perique and it was a good one.
I tried quite a few Peterson blends while most were disappointing, at least for my tastes, this one wasn’t.
Lovely tin note, a bright lemony flavor, and just a bit of spice.
It’s a solid blend and worth a try.
University Flake, and Peterson Irish Flake are the only two blends that top this one, at least from Peterson....Read More

Nice, full and round taste. If you puff it easy you’ll get the cherry.
Better then the earlier version Irish Oak

Better then I remembered when it went under the name Irish Oak. Tin opened to grassy scent Virginia blended well with the Black Cavendish and the Perique quite upfront. There is a slight topping. appears more like whiskey than sherry.I think sheery cast are used for aging not really giving that sherry flavor you would think. Yes its a malt whiskey top note but ever so faint. A good mixture. Med to Heavy smoke. Good stuff....Read More

Whoa, that was my thought after my first puff. This has very strong taste and should be smoked slowly. Even knowing it's a four on taste, it hit harder then you might think it should. Still a very good mix of tobbaco.
An aromatic I can appreciate

I'm not generally a fan of aromatics, but I appreciate this one. The oak sherry flavor is subtle, with an almost citrus fruit flavor enhanced by the spice of the perique. Sweet but not like most 'fruity' aros. Not your typical overwhelming chocolate and caramel flavor you get in so many of these. Actually has a pretty strong nic hit (probably the perique and burley) smoking out of the fairly large meer churchwarden I am using for my aromatics. I will smoke this again, something I can't say about the majority of aros I have purchased....Read More
A very nice and unique blend

I smoked this blend when it was made in Belfast (Murray). It has changed for the better, I think. There is burley in the blend and the perique is done well. It is not sharp and with a filter pipe it med-full bodied with a wine like sweetness.
Better than the old Murray version. Although the old tin art was lovely....Read More
