About This Pipe Tobacco

Among the most celebrated and legendary English blends, Balkan Sobranie dates to the 1920s when it was crafted by Sobranie of London — a blending house established in 1879 by the Redstone family. Though the original manufacturer has since ceased production, Germain's revives the iconic blend, comprising Latakia, Orientals, and Virginias for an exceptionally traditional English mixture.

(I used to like this, it’s good but my tastes have changed) ATTENTION: If you are stocking these tins up for later sale, that’s your business. I could really care less. I have instructed this too many times. In a vacuum nothing ages. It takes oxygen to give aging. If you want proof see a YouTube video “ who hid a fresh body in a civil war grave” It’s the story of a civil war confederate colonel who was taken out of his hermetically sealed, ( vacuum sealed) casket ) in 1977, and his buttons taken off his coat. To make a long story short, ( just see the YouTube video )The authorities thought it was a fresh corpse. Here we go. VACUUM SEALED TINS, OR ANYTHING VACUUM SEALED DOES NOT AGE! If you want that tobacco to age, put it in a mason jar. Seal it up, and let the air out every six months. All you that say you can taste a difference in aged vacuum sealed tins that are old are deceiving yourselves and others....Read More

In 2017 finally I get one tin. Was amazing recent open, and today, 8 years later. I recibe the email and orden it inmediatly. The recent open tin smell whas great, campfire and “oily” subtel swetness. and the smoke alwais taesty. Every pouf gives you a sligthy different experience. For me the problem With some many blends is that Afther an amazing tin smell there is no flavor, or any flavor disípates afther two or thre pufs. But with this Blend you have the whole pacage, amazing semell, grat taste and also layers and layers of taste till the end. And finally gets only better with time. Now it is a litle dry, but dry or rehidrateited (I use the lemmon crust in a Jar technique) still amazing. (scuse mi english I am from chile) The legend is true...Read More

Look, it's super rare and sells out quick, but giving it one star or less because you couldn't get it isn't fair to the tobacconists who made this. Now I happen to know someone who can get me tins and I have 2 of them. This is one of the best Balkans I ever had and I love it. The sugar crystals are beautiful in the tins I got. This is wonderful blend and I can honestly say that it's a masterpiece. It is a low quantity made product and highly sought after (for good reason). I think giving a bad rating because you didn't get a tin is wrong honestly. So I will leave this review as someone who actually has had this blend. IT'S AMAZING and hard to find for a good reason....Read More

Having smoked several hundred tins of the original blend, I can confirm that this is not identical. The issue seems to mainly be the Latakia’s smokiness is not as rich nor complex. That said, it is appalling that people are giving it a 1/2 star rating and complaining in their comment that they have never tried it. The reviews from these Bozos should be removed because they are not reviewing their product so much as voicing their sour grapes. Very nice smoke, improves greatly with age. The mineral notes from the Virginias shine during after the midpoint and through the end...Read More
