Danny Kaye was a regular at Kramer's Beverly Hills shop, and they created this blend, a variation of New Mix, especially for this great entertainer. A little Perique and a good deal of Latakia are mixed with a touch of Irish Aromatic tobacco for an enjoyable, all day smoke.

I'm not a big fan of perique, but do enjoy Kramer's Father Dempsey, so I thought I'd try Danny Kaye. Glad I did. I wasn't completely crazy about this blend when I first got it. Preferring Cary Grant more. I had stored this away for 3 years and gave it another go today. Either my tastes have changed or it has really improved is a question. But I really enjoyed the experience this time. Much deeper taste than I remember. I’ve never had anything from Kramers that I dislike and this is no exception. This and blend for Cary Grant are both English aromatic‘s. I would describe this as definitely an English aromatic but tasting much more like English whereas I would describe Cary Grant tasting much more like a aromatic with a hint of English in the background. Ok tobacco for what it is, just lacks in the strength department. I didn't really taste or smell any Irish aromatic, just good ole smoky Latakia and a bit of spicy Perique. I've tried both the Blends for Danny Kay and Cary Grant and both blends are similar. But in my honest opinion the D.K. blend has just enough of an edge to make it the superior blend. There is just something about it that makes it smoother and tastier. Unlike the C.G. blend I experienced no dry throat or mild sinus irritation that I sometimes got from smoking the C.G. That being said, they are close in flavor profile and smoking performance. The tobacco combination and mild topping all work together without one overpowering the other. Nicotine hit is very mild, room note is pleasant and tin note is satisfying. The only criticism I can level is the cut..as someone already reported, it can be irregular with hard or larger pieces mixed throughout the blend. This can make for unnecessary relights and packing problems in pipes with smaller chambers. But otherwise I am pretty satisfied with this blend from Kramer's and will definitely order it again....Read More

I’ve been working my way into English blends. I think the Danny Kay blend is perfect for those getting started. All the tobaccos in this blend come together nicely and nothing overpowers. It burns and smokes smooth and is very enjoyable. Well done.

I can't express how happy I am that Kramer's is now available to so many more people. I used to have the good fortune of driving across town and picking up a few ounces of Cary, Danny Kaye, Father Dempsey, New Mix Blends, Etc. It is sad that the store is now closed after so many decades of great service to the pipe smoking community. (We miss you Marsha & Jim!)
