About This Pipe Tobacco

Part of HU Tobacco's African line, the Fayyum blend combines fire-cured Virginias, Kentucky leaf, and generous Cypriot Latakia and a hint of Black Cavendish. It's a rich English blend presented in a Ribbon Cut.

Too sweet for me.

You know that moment when you accidentally drop too much sugar in your drink and on every sip you wish it had less sugar, but still power through it? Yeah, this is Fayyum for me, it has no artificial, but cloying sweetness that is not enjoyable to me.

If I ignore sweetness, the tobacco is fantastic, with a lot of flavours. Kentucky is noticeable, and Black Cavendish is too much noticeable... Has a lot of Latakia, but doesn't feel like a Latakia bomb because of the sweetness. Overall, it's balanced and well-rounded, typical of African Line.

The tin smell is amazing, has a note of woody/smoked cheese in Peterson's 965 or Balkan Mixture.

I mixed Khoisaan - the tobacco that was too bitter for me and Fayyum in 50/50 proportion, and it's still too sweet(!).

Zulu really hit the nail on the head with the balance of smokiness and sweetness.

I wish there were 50g tins. Now what do I do with 90g of tobacco that I don't like?...Read More

If you enjoy latakia you too will love this. Not a late bomb in my opinion but as the description says has a generous amount in it. It's smokey with a slight sweetness due to he black Cavendish. I would be more inclined to call this an English aromatic. I have tried five of the Hu blends and this could possibly be my favorite. Definitely worth a try....Read More

Yep, pretty sure I’ve died and gone there! First Khoisaan, then Zulu, and now Fayyum! Holy freaking smokes, these HU blends are off the charts! Just absolutely incredible English blends! If you love Latakia don’t even hesitate for a second, I’m serious these might just be some of the best English blends I’ve ever had! All have become instant favorites! Once again I was so surprised at how unique Fayyum is. Yes it has some in your face Latakia, which I love, but it is also expertly blended with the other components! There is an incredible subtle sweetness that comes through the smokiness and leaves a delicious aftertaste in my mouth that is amazing! Something I don’t think I have experienced much with other English blends? Again I’m terrible at picking out all the flavors, but Fayyum is smoky, leathery, earthy, sweet, and savory in all the best ways, just absolutely delicious! If you like some of my favorite English blends like Old Ironsides, Plum Pudding, Captain Earle’s, Black Frigate, Sextant, Mississippi Mud, Cerberus, Blairgowrie, Loch Ness, Pirate Kake, etc. then I think you will be absolutely blown away by these HU blends!
