About This Pipe Tobacco
Much as Orion's Arrow points to true North and has served as a guide to travelers since antiquity, C&D's nearly equal mixture of Turkish flake, Perique, red Virginia, and bright Virginia ribbon can serve as both a fine entree or destination for those in search of a bold and balanced blend.

ement , not present in the smoke. Wondering if the bag picked up a scent from another sample I had it stored with.
In appearance my sample was markedly brighter and more vibrant looking than the pictures on Smoking Pipes website.
My rating : 2
What the hell you’re asking - why up top with the rating ? Because this one was a hard decision and it kinda breaks my heart a little.
I think it is an excellent example of how you could read a description for a blend you’ve never had, and order it only to discover it’s not what you usually would go for.
I love Red Virginia. I love Perique. I love Turkish. A blend of all , in even portions - sounds like fun to me.
But it’s not. It’s kinda boring and it lacks something.
This is not lightly stated by the way. While my notes format is typically a three bowl session, I actually smoked closer to 6 or 7 with this one - I have it more chances than any blend thus far because I could t get it out of my head that it wasn’t the blends fault, it had to be great , maybe it was me.
Here’s what I’ll tell you - sweet meets spicy and is almost balanced to the point of cancelling each other out , leaving you with a warm tobacco and Perique blend that’s just not a banger.
So - try as much as I can, it’s just not one that I can get excited for.

spice in the background from the perique. I do get a little bit of sweetness as mentioned above from the Virginia tobacco. All in all I think it's a great blend of natural tobacco's that is definitely not one dimensional. Goes great in the morning with Coffee!! Cornell & Diehl tobacco's are one of the premier blending houses nowadays so many great blends!! Give it a try if this is up your alley....Read More

e flavor is pretty subtle, but very pleasing. I haven't had a sweet bowl yet, it's very dry to me like a brut champagne. The orientals aren't that tangy in my opinion. It seems like everything else in the mix is just the stage that the perique is singing from. That's totally fine by me. Sometimes I get a really interesting, almost cheese-like funk I don't know if that comes from the orientals or the perique; but I really like it. It's definitely a unique blend. I ordered Oriental silk at the same time as this, because I'm just really pumped about Oriental forward blends right now and I thought Perique in there would be a whole new ball game, and it totally is. Anyways for my tastes Oriental silk gets the combination just right. For some reason though I find myself grabbing this jar more often. It's more mysterious and intriguing, Oriental silk is more bright and playful. Orion's arrow, is must try if you're a perique lover like me. I don't really find it too "in your face", it's not really heavy on the nicotine or the flavor. It does have a slight Nic kick to it, compared to my usual smokes these days. The unique tanginess that's present throughout the bowl, and the Oriental funkiness that starts it off and ends it makes for a very interesting and pleasing smoke. I was kind of like "what the heck was that? Idk but I kind of like it let's have some more, then the feeling grew stronger with each new pack. For my taste the best experience comes from a wider gauge bowl. It turns the volume up a little on the flavor. It's fast becoming a favorite of mine and this along with the other two C&D blends (oriental silk, tuggle hall) have made me a lifelong fan. I wish I knew sooner. Now I got to try all of them I guess....Read More

out loud. Instead the Turkish, perique, and bright VAs balance the back-of-the-tongue weight of the Red VAs. Spice and cream keep the sweet and sour at bay but all the players are relaxed together.
Lots to listen to if you want, but nothing to demand your attention.
Smells like pipe tobacco (I think VAs tends towards cigarettes and burley's tend toward cigars on the nose).
Might be too rich for an all day smoke but something that is worthy of being in your rotation....Read More
