Good

I had a large order of mostly C&D blends late last year. Never having tried any of their offerings I just dove in head first. I chose probably 20 different blends, mostly burley based. I think this was one of the first ones I tried from that order and I guess it just didn't strike me as memorable. Today I was going through the collection to find something and noticed that I still had nearly a full bag of Granby. While it is somewhat similar to a few other blends from what I'll call their "train" series, this one I'll definitely be going back for again and will definitely order a larger quantity next time. Has great flavor, but not in your face. I'd call it a little bit of vanilla, a little fruit maybe. I can tell the room note is pleasant and the taste stays put almost for the entire time, atleast in my opinion. Smells vintage, like almost perfumey but in a good way. Not like the cliche "grandpa's pipe" but just smells of a different era, which I like....Read More
Earthy, Plummy and Odiferous

Product: Cornell & Diehl Granby Station Bulk
Opens with the tart Applejack and woody VA, but that soon fades to reveal an earthy, grain like nuance of burley. The perique comes in slowly and adds a plumminess, and a bit of spice to the burley. The room note is developing the crotch cheese thing - not good. You really have to appreciate the flavor of perique (and tolerate its odor) to like Granby Station. While it adds a dimension to mixtures which can make or break a profile, it can be intolerable due to its inherent odor. Granby Station is more of a dry, earthy, plummy profile with virtually no sweetness. The Applejack linger to the end and marches alongside the other components. Nicotine is 2.5 out of 5....Read More
A nice spice

This one is nice and subtle, the spice isn't too intense and that light vanilla smoothes it over.

All aboard! This instantly jumped to the front of my rotation. My first taste of perique as well and I was craving another bowl after I finished.

I do enjoy this blend I get lots of vanilla but no applejack notes at all. I will keep small amounts around for when I want a change of pace.
Aromatic Va/Per.

Highly enjoyable. Red Virginia, and spicy/figgy Perique. Complimented nicely by creamy vanilla flavor and some tangy/sour note from the brandy. Highly recommended.

Granddad used to make apple shine smooth kind of remind me of that. Corn filled in after casket with Oats.
Burley-Forward Light Aro

Product: Cornell & Diehl Granby Station Bulk
(Revised) Granby Station is a burley-forward light aromatic that showcases the natural tobacco flavor. The burley is clearly present and is earthy rather than nutty. In fact, after getting some must on the retrohale, I assumed there was a pinch of Oriental here. It must be the Perique. I could not pick out vanilla and applejack, only a light sweetness that lifts the overall flavor and without which, the earthy notes would sit a bit heavy. It burns well and produces nice smoke. If you're a burley fan, this one might appeal to you; others looking for a traditional fully topped aromatic might be less impressed....Read More
The Train’s Departing Granby Station, And I Want To Be Aboard
October 10, 2020
Product: Cornell & Diehl Granby Station Bulk
This aromatic with a pouch-note of vanilla and applejack may bear a name of a Colorado train station on the edge of the Rockies, but to my nose, tongue and mind it’s different. When I inhale the open pouch and later puff away, I smell and taste a light hint of maple syrup. That combined with a name that sounds like a New England train depot brings me back to my years as a young man in New England. I feel like I’m back in New Hampshire on the Amtrak Downeaster. Great memories conjured by a solid aro blend.

The topping only reinforces the bright sweetness of the Red Virginias and the mellow sweetness of the Cavendish. The addition of perique adds further complexity and a satisfying spice on the tongue and at the back of the throat. I’m not a usual consumer of aromatics, but this is one of the few I enjoy slipping into my rotation from time to time. Granby Station, all aboard! 4.5 stars.

Not for me. Or so I thought.

At first light it was okay but the flavor quickly developed into red cigarettes.

Edit: Ok. My apologies to this tobacco. I got one of my jars mixed up and was smoking a different brand.this I a pretty good all rounder mellow smoke with a flavor that last from first light to last puff.
