There is no bite, no surprises, just a basic English blend with a medium amount of Latakia that adds enough smoky flavor. The more I smoke this one the more I like it. It's one of those English blends that has just the right "weight" to it for my preferences.

I tried this one on a recommendation from a fellow pipe smoker. He seems to love it, me not so much. It's a decent blend but I find myself thinking of other better blends I'd rather be smoking while puffing on this one. as the title says, i've gone through half a jar so far, in several different styles of pipes, and this smokes really wet for me. Pallet reminds me of a meat smoker, kind of a hickory and oak smokiness to it, but the tin note reeks of bourbon, yet no taste of it. Just tastes like an old gym sock.

After going through a few bowls of this blend I think it is a very well-balanced blend. I tend to notice more of a grassy or earthy note to it, yet it does slightly remind me of my favorite English blend the Presbyterian Mixture, yet, I am not sure if I would consider them shoulder to shoulder on the scale of English blends. Nonetheless, my jar of this came with the tobacco at a perfect moisture level for my liking, and it is quite nice that this comes already in a jar. All this makes for what I think is a very good starting English blend. It does lead me to want to try the rest of the Briar Works Blends....Read More

Let me start by saying, by no means is this a bad blend. On the other side of that coin, I find nothing remarkable in it either. I am a fairly avid English smoker and as such I value my Latakia. Where it was there, it hid deep in the back ground, far behind the Virginias. The top of the jar was strangely dry but there was still plenty of moisture once you get past the fluff on top. This was strange because the jar was properly sealed. It burns well, and smokes smooth but far lighter than I expected and in my opinion is on the verge of not being an English at all....Read More
